Hard-Boiled Eggs

I keep fucking this up and it's super-frustrating for me cause I'm the motherfucking eggman in every other egg aspect. Over-easy? Super easy. Scrambled? The best. Sunny-side Up? You betcha. Omelets? Puhlease. But hard-boiled, notsomuch.
I let the water come to a full boil, then I turn off the heat and drop the eggs in ... 20 minutes later I crack those suckers and they're STILL runny ... which is good, but not for egg salad.
Where did I go wrong?

there should be a support group or something for people like us.
OMG YES!! And I *ROCK* eggs otherwise, just like you! I like my eggs over-medium...and have no problems flipping them. Just can't seem to manage hard boil them.
oh i am the master-flipper. how do u want them, over easy? lots of runny yoke? no problem. it's all about the quick technique and lots of lube (butter).
I use a teeny bit of butter, but I've found that nonstick spray works best when flipping eggs.
And use cold water, just enough to cover the eggs by an inch.
Don't crowd the eggs.
When water comes up to a boil, turn off the burner and move the pot to a cold burner. Wait 12 min and remove the eggs.
If the eggs are just out of the fridge, you should wait about 15 -18 min.
And I don't feel right when you're gone away
It sounds so easy when you describe it...but seriously, if I were to go home tonight and try this they'd come out way overdone...the yolks would turn brown.
I fail to see where you people are going wrong!!!
I boil water, put egg in, let water boil for 6 minutes, remove egg for perfect soft boiled egg.
For hard boiled, I'd probably go 8-10 minutes.
That's about what I do... But I bring the water to a boil with the eggs in, then cover the pan and cut the heat off (while keeping it on the burner as it cools).
In 10 minutes I take the eggs out and fill the pot with ice water. I've heard this shrinks the eggs a little in the shells, so they are easier to peel.
I also put a little white vinegar in the water as well. This prevents the yokes from turning green.
was like a picture

Aroma Stainless Steel Egg Boiler
This thing for $20 never fails.
You can get it at target.com.
Put the eggs in the giant egg and wait for it to beep.
WOOOOOAH..wait....back up! TELL ME MORE!
it's true ... everyone has their own technique ... it's like cunnilingus.
what woman would ever marry a man who can't hard-boil an egg?!?
WOAH! I so was not prepared for that.
i'm fairly unpredictable ... much like the eggs I hard-boil.
Check it out at Target.com.
It is so easy to use.
No water boiling, no waiting around.
Just put the eggs and water in the device and plug it in.
The thing buzzes when they are done.
As shocking and offensive (not really) as that was...it was also quite funny!
I am SOOOOOOO getting one.
Then I'm going to eat hard boiled eggs till I get sick!! THANKS!
stank.
stunk.
i tend to learn towards inappropriate comparisons. i hope to parlay that tendency into big money one day.
Well, I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors. You seem to have quite the talent for it!
