Redwings Vs Pens For The Cup!!

  • if penguins can keep the team together for the next bit, i say they win 3 out of the next five, but this year its detroit. can you say powerhouse. really, they are just crushing every game. it is not sid's turn, yet.

I've maintained since the preseason that the Pens will win two out of the next four, but I'll take three out of five :D

However I do think that they can pull it off this year. I mean as good as Detroit has been, Pittsburgh has been just as good or better. You could make the argument that Pittsburgh has faced slightly tougher opponents if you go by regular season point totals, and yet they have an ever-so-slight better playoff record than Detroit.

I mean don't get me wrong, Detroit is supposed to win, so I won't be that devastated, but don't be surprised if the Cup ends up in Pittsburgh this year

I like the Wings, both as a team generally and to win the Cup. The Pens will challenge them more than Dallas did (Holy no-show, Batman), but Detroit is the better team.

Nope, I don't buy your argument. I guess Detroit got an injury-depleted and overrated Colarado Avalanche, but I am not sure that the Flyers and the Rangers actually tested the Pens in any real way, even if they are good teams on paper. Detroit will be their first real test, and they won't be ready.

    agreed.

i was listening to jt the brick the night the wings swept the av's and someone calling in said detroit wouldn't lose another game in the playoffs or the finals. i laughed (i'm a diehard wings fan, but 3 sweeps in a row? come on, i thought)....but that guy so far is looking like nostra-fucking-damus.

    i don't think they'll sweep but it won't go 7. wings in 5, maybe 6.

***and let me add that now that i've made a prediction that they're going to win it all, they'll go out and dump 4 games straight to the stars***

I'm a Wings fan for sure but I think it's awesome that the Stars have a guy named Hagman on their team. They will win tonight just because J fucking R is on their team!

pretty cocky statement there. what makes you think your so much better? the pens have lost 1 game, the offense speaks for itself, the defense of the entire team is outstanding, and fleury is stopping the little chances he faces. Detroit is good but you people might be in for a big surprise. The wings may very well win but it won't be easy and it sure as hell won't be a sweep or 5 games.

Not much different from most of the penguins' fan's posts.
  • i haven't seen any penguins fans talking sweep or 4-1.

neither did the detroit fan you quoted..
I see mostly predictions of 6 or 7.

lets face it both series are over

Even though I knew better, I tried again to watch a Red Wings hockey game since no other games were on. They are so fucking boring with their obscenely disciplined and dreadfully unemotional style of play. Unfortunately, that game is really tough to beat. After the last Pens / Flyers game, these playoffs are over for me. These have been the worst NHL playoffs ever. Maybe the kids in Pitt can inject some life into Wings games. Let me know if I missed anything.

    Do you taste like chicken?

And penguins wins versus detroit in the playoffs this year? well since you don't play in the east i'm gonna go with zero.

not sure what i taste like, i'll have to ask my wife.

and exactly. zero wins against the wings. just like the wings have zero wins against the pens. i'm not trying to downplay the fact that the pens are zipping through the playoffs.....congrats to them, it's a remarkable thing to be doing and i commend them for it. but just because they're playing well against those teams doesn't automatically mean they're going to have the same ease with the wings. we both know (barring miracles from the stars and the flyers) that the wings and pens will be facing off for the cup. you being a pens fan obviously think the pens will win. myself being a wings fan obviously think the wings are gonna win. personally, i don't think it'll be a sweep and i also don't think it'll go seven. that leaves either a 5 or 6 game series. that's all i was saying. no cockiness at all.

and i'll get back to you on what i taste like tomorrow. that is, if my wife is willing to share.

Hey it's all good. I didn't really mean anything by the cockiness comment. As a wings fan you can be. I just felt that my penguins deserved a little more respect.(which you've given. And i'll have you know my second favorite team is the red wings).
Obviously you think the wings will win, im pulling for the penguins, thats hockey.
but at least our teams are in it! You are probably used to it, but as a penguins fan it's been awhile.
So good luck to you on what should be a great series.

Me too, but I think realistically, only Homer's ass could cost us the Cup. Them young upstarts on the Penns are going to get schooled.

I'm just hoping that the stars win game #6, and that game and game #7 are the two most physical and longest OT games in the history of the league.

    Go Pens!
