:) that's why April would seem to fit in nicely :) nothing on then right? :D

so where do I need to fly into Collin? Could you get to Brussels or are we all going to you :D

Fly into Brussels. One can do one night in Brussels and one night in Bruges!
  • redrockredrock Posts: 18,341
Hmm... so when then? Cos anytime before April I can't really do :o what about the weekend before when you're already there?
That would probably be better.. though I have nothing confirmed for going there, but should I be visiting my family, that's when I would go! Maybe this is the incentive I need :D Though again, if I do go permanent in the job I am now, it will be shit because I will have 'normal' holiday entitlement... Why is life so complicated????

I don't think you have that many choices, do you? I can easily get to Brussels and from Brussels you can be in Ghent in less than an hour with the train, and from Ghent it's about 20 - 30 minutes to Bruges. It's a small country. I can be everywhere! :D

Easter is earlier, but too early for schools. Therefore G is off for good friday and easter monday, but her real 'easter' hols are a couple of weeks later.

Nope.. you will need to learn french and flemish. Trains from Brussels to Bruges take about an hour and are very often.

Trains are easy to figure out, when you're in Brussels and you want to go to Ghent get inside that train that says 'destination: Gent'. :D etc.

And yes, we all speak English, more or less. Not so sure about the Frenchies, though :D

anyway a few people confirmed this,, but now i hear from u cats different

also a friend at work took a trip to the guiness factory in ireland
he said they served it warm after the tour ??
I've never had a warm beer in France.. and I'm French so I started drinking it aged 12 (legally :D).
as a matter of fact, there's a reputation there that English serve warm beer (probably they used to with Ale but I haven't had a warm beer in England either, and I've been thre 10 years...that's a LOT of beer ;))

the idiots that 'confirmed' it have probably never set foot in europe..

You have a lifetime before you. Don't need to shove them down your throat in one sitting! So now instead of having one or two Hoegaardens, have one or two different ones! (BTW-good on you.. NO lemon or lime :D)

Yeah, my girl almost asked for a lemon in hers but I managed to kick her in the shin before she could. We're not having any of that shit! Though she does put lime in Corona (Mexican mule juice) but that's just shit piss anyway..Oh and I did try a different beer one time, but it didn't go down too well...i'll try your suggestions next time..thanks..

Oktoberfest is really expensive, so I've heard. 25 euros for half a chicken :D

edit: but the beer is cold...

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Well, since it costs 25 euro I don't need it, but if it were 2 euro for half a chicken, I'd need lots of it :D

because it used to be in October until they moved it and everyone knows it's called the Oktoberfest so they must have thought it might confuse the simple-minded beer tourists if they changed its name to Septemberfest so they left it at Oktoberfest and didn't change it, see ?

i thought the last one or two days were still in October... ?

but then i'm making all this up so who knows... :)

you need to ask Jason for dates, he's the Oktoberfest meister!
..but I think we'll do the first weekend again (dates are Sep. 20th - Oct. 5th this year, so presumably 19-22)
it's a bit early for booking the flights I think.

Not at all... they're already over 200euro  :o

I'll ask him but that's the cheapest weekend so sounds good. I might try and get an exxtra day or two.
