Walsh had some detractors. The thing here is that Belichick has always been stand-offish at best and more often than not a prick to much of the media (hey he learned from Parcells). Even many Boston writers despise him. Ron Borges still thinks Bledsoe should be starting, and Kevin Mannix once called Belichick 'duplicitous pond scum" in a column.

So there are a lot of writers who are taking their shots at Belichick now, most are exaggerating facts and coming up with wild speculations cause its open season. So be it.
They have forgotten about journalistic objectivity, but in the end, if the Pats succeed Sunday night and beyond, much of the fuel to this fire will disappear.

This is different, because they actually did cheat, and admitted to it....

Like it or not, unless the Pats can win a SB again in the next few years, their 3 champions will go down as tainted. We'll see what happens....

It hasn't been called since because the rule was altered after that season. But under the rules in Jan 2002, the proper call was made.
And it has been called since, I've seen it. The rule has just been amended so it must be more of a true throwing motion now.

well yes of course I am tainted because I hate Nova but I do think it's shitty that he had an extra 3 million and didn't say anything for 3 months until the Eagles figured it out. And still hasn't paid it back. ah maybe now Nova will name something after him, or do they just do that for murderers?

yes it has, I've seen it called a few times. The fact of the matter, it's the rule, plain and a simple. A technicality. Just like the video rule. A technicality. Accept it and move on. You really think the Pats are the only one? They got caught. You really think it's the reason they won 3 SB's?

The league sent a memo to EVERY fucking team just a week before the season saying don't do it - and that arrogant prick Bellicheck did it anyway. yes it is a technicality. it's comparable to losing a coach who was negotiated with while under contract with another team, that cost a 1st round draft pick. it's essentially the same penalty.

the severity of the penalty is based on the punishment - essentially a first round pick - a clear indication that there is no real proof that any video had anything to do with an outcome of the game.
