the best catch ive ever seen by a fan was that dude who on monday nite football during a bears game, leaped over the railing to catch a kevin butler FG that had gone over the net. that was honestly one of the best catches ive ever seen-- by fan or athelte.

Yeah, that was an insane catch! I'm not sure how that guy was able to drop down that far, catch the ball, land and not break a leg/ankle. That was a hell of a catch!!

A couple funny stories that I've experienced while at games...

    - At Wrigley about 7 years ago or so...it was like the 5th inning and this big fat dude was walking down to his seat. This was at the time where you could literally buy as many beers as you could carry. This guy had like 5 beers, a couple hot dogs, and some nachos with cheese. So he's sloooowly going down to his seat on the 1st base side when "crack!" A ball fouls off the bat hard, comes flying and hits this guy in the head! LOL! He drops everything and rolls down the steps! Oh my god, it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. People were just dying laughing as this guy gets up covered in beer and cheese. It actually made Sportscenter that night! :D

I've seen some people get smoked by foul balls but this one was out of the hand of Cliff Floyd (Marlins at the time).

    - At Wrigley about 5-6 years ago I was in the bleachers with some friends. These guys in front of us (2nd row) were talking so much shit to Cliff Floyd the entire game. It wasn't stupid "hey, you suck!" it was actually quite clever and funny. So, after 8 innings of constant rousing from these bleacher bums...a pissed off Floyd, who I think struck out 3 times so far, makes the final out. He takes two steps toward the infield turns around and chucks the ball at these guys. He really reached back too because it was really moving!! He misses these guys badly and it smokes some young girl really hard on her side.
I felt bad for her but it was pretty funny nonetheless. Floyd ended up hitting the game winning home run the next inning! Haha!

    - At Comisky (US Cellular Field). There was a foul up and back. For those of you that don't know...Comisky's upper deck is extremely steep!!! 5 or 6 guys go for it, they all lose their balance and literally roll halfway down the upper deck. LMAO!!!! Funny shit!

Bo Jackson tossed me a ball during batting practice before a game..........if that counts. Oh, my brother did catch a homerun ball at a Rangers game. That was a pretty exciting moment for him, lol

Closest I ever came was a few years ago when I took my mom to an Indians game. Our seats were about 3 rows up in right field. Mom had to go to the bathroom, so we waited until the visiting team was up, but mom takes her time and the inning ended. Jim Thome was up as we were walking back to our seats. We were about 5 rows away and I stood there and watched the guy in the row behind me reach over my empty seat and catch the ball that would have come right to me if I'd been there.

Yes, I still give Mom a hard time about this.

  • 2 foul balls, 1 home run. all 3 with no glove, my hands stung for the rest of the night.

  • Sox vs. Yankees at Fenway - I got to the game early and was sitting in the bleachers while the Yanks were taking batting practice. Giambi hits one over the bullpen and it lands about four rows in front of me. I run down the stairs, sprint towards the ball, and dive on top of it then get up and throw my arms into the air like I just won the Boston Marathon. As I am brushing the dirt out of the scrapes all over my arms, I look around and realize that there is no one within 25 yards of me. I had time to walk over to the ball, look at it, leave it on the ground, get a hot dog, go back, and I still would have gotten it.

Another time I got into Fenway as soon as the gates opened. I made my way down to the dugout to watch BP and I noticed a ball just sitting on the ground so I'm not sure if that counts.

August 14, 2004 Sox vs. Bluejays - Johnny Damon hits a home run in the first at bat of the game. It slices around Pesky's Pole, lands about ten rows in front of me and bounces up into the walkway. I was in the first row in front of the walkway so I scramble over and snag it. I didn't realize it but in the mad rush to get the ball, I dove into the wheel chair section. The usher was not to happy about this so he came over and started screaming at me. So my shinning moment on the jumbotron because some power hungry douchebag was trying to be a tough guy. After the game I saw Damon and he signed the ball so it made my night even better!

Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

Ok let's see I made a one hand a line drive foul ball on the far 1st base side. It was great cause my daughter almost got a foul ball a few pitches earlier a fat kid bump her out of the way. She was almost in tears until I handed her that ball then after the game she got it autographed.

I caught another ball thrown up in the bleachers by a Red sox catcher. I dove infront of my freinds and caught that ball backhanded with my eyes partially closed. I must say it a great catch.

At a DC United game I caught a soccer ball that came up in the stands however we have to throw those back in. i gather those balls must be expensive.

Lastly at a concert L A Guns opened for either ACDC or Def Leppard I can't really remember. After their set the drummer whipped his drum sticks out into the crowd and I caught one and the other flew under my seat. I grabbed it too but I gave one to a beauty that was sitting behind me. :)

I remember now it was ACDC's Thunderstruck World Tour. It coudn't have been Def Leppard Rick Allen drums with one stick. :)

I forgot to mention ALL catches were barehanded. I believe my hockey goaltending skills helped me in this.

  • I was in Toronto against the Yankees...someone on toronto fouled it off and the guy next to me caught it and he gave it to me (I was 10 at the time)

I was at Yankee stadium when they played the Indians and Kenny Lofton hit a foul ball to me, went right into my fathers lap, he had no idea what was going on, ahaha

In batting practice, I caught one off the bat of Jeff Bagwell at Shea in 1991 and one hit Tim Raines when he was with the White Sox in 1993 at Yankee stadium.

At the Vet, I had a foul ball by Chipper Jones hit me square in the chest and bounce 4 rows up. Did not get the ball.

I was taunting him the whole game with the "Larry, Larry" chant, so I guess I had it coming. :)

Never have, but I've been close a couple of times.

The closest was when I was at a Charlotte Knights (AAA team) game. I was sitting in an aisle seat behind first base about halfway back in the lower deck. A foul ball was hit to the section right next to mine, same row as I was sitting. There were 3 people at the end of that row and the ball wound up hitting in the middle of that row. It hit the concrete and then bounced back about 10 rows or so. If those people hadn't have been sitting there, I would have cut across the aisle and make the catch. Oh well....

  • In back to back shows I touched matt's drum sticks when he tossed them out into the crowd. I butterfingered them each time.

In 98, at busch stadium, I butterfingered a gary shetfield homerun ball. It bounced into my hat and out.

In 2001 or 2000. Pujols' first season. I asked my high school friends who wanted a soda bc i was thirsty. I walked about 10 feet turned around and asked if anyone wanted a pretzel while I was away. Just as I turned around Pujols hit his 5th career homerun right through the spot where I was standing. It was out at "Homers Landing" at the old busch.

At a st. louis professional roller hockey game in 94... The Vipers @ the old barn/arena. It was the last even ever at the arena. I reached out to grab a jersey that one of the players tossed into the crowd. Instead I got a guys hair piece off his head. I was 11. It was very funny.

I go to alot of Cleveland Indians games each year and have never caught a ball. I normally sit pretty close, but still nothing. Once in 2003 when the team was bad, I went to the game with 3 friends and we moved down 6 rows so we could get a closer view. Within an inning of doing that, a ball was hit directly where my old seat was. I was so mad
