That said there's a lot of cutscene, as usual, much of it painfully long and unnecessary, other stuff exciting and informative...
I never minded the cutscenes. Then again I love rpgs so I'm used to long breaks in action.0 -

Some of them, not all.
On an unrelated note, I also love RPGs, Square Enix is showing the 360 some love (not that it'll help in Japan) with some RPG goodness.0 -

I understand what youre saying. I find myself skipping some of the GTA IV cut scenes to get to the mission, but mostly because I'm having fun and am eager to play some more. Does the story make sense atleast? The MGS 2: Sons of Liberty story was way confusing for me.
I heard Blue Dragon was awesome on the 360. I heard average stuff about Lost Odyssey. Lost Odyssey was created by the guy behind FFVII so I'll try it out anyway. It on four(!) disks though.0 -

They haven't gotten into the story in Metal Gear too heavy yet (I'm in the 5th or 6th level). It isn't hard to follow yet.0 -
mole1985 wrote:Yeah but it takes longer installing the game on a PS3 then it would to swap a disc. A HELL of a lot longer. Someone told me you have to install each chapter as you go through MGS4! Is that true? PS3 instillation is a fooking joke!
Now the installation is no big deal to me, but c'mon, you've got an 8 minute installation, and potentially multiple 4 minute installations, and you're making fun of someone else for 5 second disc swaps? Hehehehehe!0 -
I picked it up last night. So far so good.
Damn, the graphics are pretty incredible!0 -

Thats what annoys me. Sony released a video with snake and otacon taunting microsoft about how blu-ray is superior and there is no need to swap discs but the instillation takes way longer then swapping a freakin' disc. Bloody propaganda :(Dublin 2006

Who cares? It's a great game! It doesn't bother you there are 5-10 minute cut scenes, but a 4 minute "install" annoys you?
Oh well. All in all, I think this game is badass!0 -

And yeah, so far the game is pretty darn good. Definitely the best I've got for the system.0 -

Granted, I'm not that far into it yet but I love the nice combination of sneaking around and all-out gun battles. I love MGS games, but sometimes they were a little too one-dimensional at times.0 -

Nothing like selling your body and soul to slavery for a video game.Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

So I'm a bit pissed off! Not so much at the game, I guess more at myself...
So, figuring the game would save my spot when it hit "checkpoints" I shut it off. Well, I turn it back on later and find out that it will save from you spots only when you really go in and tell it to save.
Fuck me! 45 mins to an hour of game play lost because I was f'n dumb! :mad:0 -
I have all three main systems and most of the top games (including GTA4 for the 360). Right now, after 5 hours of play, Metal Gear is leading my "Game of the Year" list. Very solid, Solid Snake!Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

Many of the cutscenes, however, are needlessly long and chalk full of terrible dialogue. Some of them are very overdone, some of them are excellent and spot on.
The gameplay, which is the most important factor, is most excellent.0 -

Yep, it's def. Game of the Year in my opinion!
So well done.
You know GTA4 will probably take that trophy, mostly because it was multiplatform and because of the record sales numbers, but MGS4 is far superior IMO.0
