Ah ... See, I think wolf-hunting is utter bullshit, but there's things about this woman that would bother me a lot more than shooting an animal. Maybe its because I grew up hunting and shooting, for food.

correct me if i'm wrong but my understanding is that the wolf shooting program was designed so that hunters could shoot caribou. you see, the wolves were keeping the natural balance intact, which upset people who liked an abundance of caribou to shoot. so the wolf shooting began so there could be more caribou shooting.

i have problems with that because it's just fucked up. what i have even more problems with is her complete bullshit heralding of women because she is one too. she praised hillary clinton and women of seneca falls yet at the same time she advocates the same, if not worse, anti-woman policies that george w. bush advocates. these are policies that are the opposite of what clinton and all the other ladies were fighting for over the course of years and years. she wants to change and reform government by keeping it and expanding their presence in our bedrooms? she wants to continue pumping hundreds of millions into abstinence-only education, which is not effective OBVIOUSLY?! she wants to praise her daughter for making the right decision while eliminating all other women's abilities to make medical decisions? i don't see change here, if only the worsening of our society. i see more of the same dangerous, expansive, wasteful, fundamentalist policies.

  • Victorygin-thanks for answering the questions! You're dead on.
Folks, the purpose of the OP was to encourage you to go and check out those blogs to educate yourselves in order to make an informed decision when it comes time to vote. And to pass that info on to all the people who are asking,"who is this woman?!" Most if not all of your questions can be answered there.

Tell me please, please....you are kidding, right?
Yes, it was a FABULOUS performance. Gushing over her family and John McCain for most of it. Take it from an Alaskan...a lot of her speech was just her old speeches from when she ran for Gov, regurgitated!!!
She's pretty, she's spunky....Please tell me what IMPORTANT issues/plans were discussed. Was there ANY SUBSTANCE there??!?!

I'm sure its been done to death in other threads, but I am recently back here so bear with me ... What exactly is everyone afraid she will do?

Keep in mind that this is just MY personal opinion.....
People who haven't served the country as a Senator or Representative in US Congress, don't seem to have much idea of how Washington "works" (or doesn't work as the case may be) and appear to let Washington insiders from their own party lead their decisions.

I think this is a huge part of why W went so wrong. I'm no expert on government or our history, but as I've watched things develop in Washington over the past 7.75 years in conjunction with W's record of offices held, (Governor) I can't help but consider Palin in the same light. I also think about Ronald Reagan, a former Governor, who slept through his cabinet meetings and consulted astrologers (in addition to his party insiders). I think it takes more than being "Governor", to understand how to become a leader at the level of the oval office.

Okay, now everyone who's a Reagan fan FREAK at what I said. :D

I think Palin has a very good idea on how Washington works ... which is why she hired a lobbyist and secured more for Alaska in earmarks per capita than any other state in the union.

You do realize, statistically, there is a 1 in 3 chance McCain will die of natural causes before his term is up, do you?

To run her state - possibly. Not to run our country.

Below is the AkWap Press Release:

Alaska Women Join Forces Across Political Boundaries to Reject Palin

    ANCHORAGE, ALASKA –

Alaska’s women are challenging the McCain campaign’s claim that Governor Sarah Palin represents the value systems and ideals of all women and middle-class American families.

The local group “Alaska Women Reject Palin” is hosting a “Reject Palin” rally to put the media and both campaigns on notice that Alaska’s women are a diverse and intelligent group that vote on substance not gender. The group rejects Palin’s values as representative of their own and urges voters to closely examine Palin’s position, policies, and prior record, and decide for themselves if hers is the example they want to live by.

“Alaska Women Reject Palin” denounces Palin’s record and position on issues important to most women and families, including reproductive rights and sex education, the role of religion in government and public schools, environmental issues such as climate change and endangered species conservation, support for families and social programs, and victims rights.

The non-partisan rally is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, 2008, at noon at the Loussac Library at 36th and Denali. Both male and female voters across the political spectrum are invited to attend the “Reject Palin” rally. Participants are asked to bring their own signs that stick to policy issues only, with no personal attacks.

thanks for any help!!!!!! Wish us luck and stay tuned!

    How did it go?
