Wanna know what the heck is going on with Sarah Palin? Who is this bird?The Alaska Women Reject Palin is a group hosting a rally in Anchorage, Alaska this Saturday. The group came to be only last weekend and we are already garnering a LOT of national media attention on the Alaska Women Reject palin rally!...and death threats as well! Please pass on the info in this post and on my blog(or any of the others listed) to as many people as you can. Obviously, out of staters may not attend, but we want to educate all those folks who have so many missconceptions about alaska AND Palin...and these Alaska blogs are a great resource for information.

Alaska Women Join Forces Across Political Boundaries to Reject Palin

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA –

Alaska’s women are challenging the McCain campaign’s claim that Governor Sarah Palin represents the value systems and ideals of all women and middle-class American families.

The local group “Alaska Women Reject Palin” is hosting a “Reject Palin” rally to put the media and both campaigns on notice that Alaska’s women are a diverse and intelligent group that vote on substance not gender. The group rejects Palin’s values as representative of their own and urges voters to closely examine Palin’s position, policies, and prior record, and decide for themselves if hers is the example they want to live by.

“Alaska Women Reject Palin” denounces Palin’s record and position on issues important to most women and families, including reproductive rights and sex education, the role of religion in government and public schools, environmental issues such as climate change and endangered species conservation, support for families and social programs, and victims rights.

The non-partisan rally is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, 2008, at noon at the Loussac Library at 36th and Denali. Both male and female voters across the political spectrum are invited to attend the “Reject Palin” rally. Participants are asked to bring their own signs that stick to policy issues only, with no personal attacks.

    Indeed ... Its funny how this "bird" has eclipsed both of the actual presidential candidates, in terms of controversy and coverage more generally. Holy shit.

    it's not like the above is from Obama. Sadly, it's the Media making her #1 story ...but, I think going forward, that's what will happen ... Obama will concentrate on McCain.

    How does rejecting one woman (who professes to personify Alaska) make us NOT non-partisan? We've said nothing about rejecting the whole party. The women who are a part of this group come from all walks of life-and represent all of the parties. Dem, Rep. Inp and the like....

    Fair enough ... Is your primary beef that she claims to personify Alaska? Why is that so offensive? I mean, I can see your point, in that no one should reasonably claim to personify a large group of people ...

    I can see it as offensive. She scares the shit out of me and if I was an Alaskan, I'd want to make damn sure that people knew she did not represent what I believe in.

    Correct. However she is running for the second highest office in this country. If something happens to McCain, she takes over. So she may as well be running for President. Freakin Scary

    Ah ... See, I think wolf-hunting is utter bullshit, but there's things about this woman that would bother me a lot more than shooting an animal. Maybe its because I grew up hunting and shooting, for food.
