Obama's VP

I think he will choose Biden and in my opinion it is a terrible decision.
Not that I like Obama or McCain, but Obama is supposed to be the anti-war, change candidate that offers hope to a different way of government from the ways we have seen of recent. Biden voted for the war, raising taxes and is merely being added to combat McCain's foreign policy expertise and experience. Adding Biden underminds Obama's mantra of the change he's supposed to be pushing for.CONservative governMENt

You mean having Zbignew Brzezinski on his advisory staff, and having 4 out of his top 7 largest campaign contributions coming directly from the banks that own the Federal Reserve and a 5th out of that 7 being the largest private equity investment firm\bank in the world wasn't enough to undermind that "mantra of change"?
Goddamn,
good thing the man is black,
or all he would have is his smooth talk ...
and god knows the people are no longer fooled by smooth talk alone.

Yeah I completely agree with you. I disgree whole-heartedly with McCain's notion of government and it's role in the world and feel Obama is just full of shit with his bogus "change" platform.
The names change but the song remains the same. Our system is broken. Garbage in, garbage out. Failure to prepare is preparing to fail - our elections are a failure to prepare to fix our problems, so of course we see failed results.... but everyone enjoy election day... pull your lever, it means so much.CONservative governMENt

The Illinois senator said he wanted a running mate who was "prepared to be president" and who will be "a partner with me in strengthening this economy for the middle class and working families."
"I want somebody who's independent, somebody who can push against my preconceived notions and challenge me so we have got a robust debate in the White House."

How so? Joe Biden isn't your average, corrupt Washington politician. He is one of the most unique, outspoken, Senators. He still has a strong connection to blue collar workers (he's one of the poorest Senators, commutes home on Amtrak every night to be with his wife, still wears blue jeans and drives a pick-up truck, Catholic, doesn't own a half-dozen homes and can remember that). His son is about to be sent to Iraq - something that Bush, Cheney, McCain, Romney, Giuliani, and others can't say. Simply because someone has an impressive resume doesn't mean they can't bring change to Washington. Experience does not nullify change.
There isn't a better choice for Obama to make than to choose Joe Biden as his running mate.Pittsburgh 6/23/06

When he said "I'm not the guy?" That means nothing, really. First, he might not have been notified at that point that he was the choice. He later came out to say that he "hadn't heard anything", which is not surprising if he is the pick.
Also, with all the speculation that has been built up to see who Obama & McCain choose as their running-mates, how would the Obama camp feel if it got ruined by the choice telling a single reporter at the edge of his drive-way, while in jeans and a dress shirt about to drive away in a truck, "Yeah, I'm the guy - Obama choose me to be his running mate. See ya later."
Anyone - 'the guy' or 'not the guy' will say that he's 'not the guy' until Obama chooses to announce it.Pittsburgh 6/23/06

DriftingByTheStorm wrote:And on the subject of VPs directly, Obama's campaign has actualy gone out of their way to DENY that Hillary Clinton is even in consideration ... and yet that clearly can not be true, if polls are showing that 30% of voters want Hillary on the ticket, with every other VP candidate receiving single digit responses. And what, you think that Obama is so above the influence of pandering, that he isn't going to bring that in to consideration?
That's because the Hillary supporters still haven't gotten over the fact that she lost. Of course Hillary is going to poll the highest numbers - her supporters are still ramming the idea that she deserves to be on the ticket down everyone's throats. The other half of the part is split between several choices (Clark, Biden, Bayh, Sebelius, Kaine) and are indifferent (they'll support any of them). Her polling the highest numbers by far means nothing - every was expecting that. And I doubt the Obama campaign is going to give such sore losers what they want.Pittsburgh 6/23/06

Obama's camp isn't saying much of dick about dick.
I mean, its one of the most secretive campaigns in modern election history.
And like i said, that should be a dead give away that something is rotten.
When a campaign like Obama's, playing on "hope" and "change", goes to great lenghts to keep its own "inner-circle" advisors in absolute secret from public scrutiny, one should start to wonder. The only reason for that secrecy is because that secret inner circle is most likely made up of the same institutional, belt-way insider shills that every other media-backed elitist owned candidate has had on his staff since who knows when.
They're secretive about it because they have to be...it's his running mate. They're building up the suspense and dancing names in our faces to get us excited. Anticipation is going through the roof trying to figure out who it is - it's a brilliant tactic to get press coverage, get voter response (they drop Bayh, Biden, & Kaine and they see the outrage against Bayh - they don't choose him). They can't make every announcement, decision, and thought public - that would ruin everything. Simply because they're doing so doesn't mean "something's rotten" or they're "Beltway insiders".Pittsburgh 6/23/06

I think that Biden is the choice, he gives an Obama presidency some instant credibility in the foreign policy area, something he really needs.
But if Clinton somehow gets it, well shit, I guess I vote for Mickey Mouse.0 -

Well if he picks Hillary he's pretty much signing his own death sentence. Literally not politically.
I would rather it be Biden/Obama personally but I do hope Biden is his choice. I still don't know how I'm voting and I usually don't base it on a VP choice but with McCain being fairly old and having had cancer and Obama, sad to say I know, being possibly the first black president there is the very real possibility that the VP could end up being the P.
