How sad that all during the primaries McCain and the RNC belittled Obama's call for Change, yet, they couldn't even come up with their own original idea and copied Obama's call for Change. Unfortunately, McCain's platform offered nothing of substance.
--No mention of the illegal immigrant agenda, especially, since a) AZ is widely used as an entrance point, and b) since the 'border fence' in AZ has been put on hold, and, c) the prospects of making AZ a major component in the NAFTA Superhighway deal.
--The economy. No mention of keeping jobs in America, how does he expect to revitalize America's economy. Where are the tax cuts coming from? We have been getting tax cuts for the past 6 years and look at the state of our economy.
The old cry of cutting government spending. You know what cutting government spending will do nothing if it doesn't include a substantial cut in the Defense budget and that is not going to happen under McCain. Seeing that Bush just called for a $1 billion dollar aid package for the Republic of Georgia on top of the humanitarian relief which McCain supports, the status quo is in place. No mention on how we are going to handle all these returning vets with long term medical and financial needs other than praising their service, or where the new military will come from to say in the Middle East, to fight in Iran, to protect the Republic of Georgia, Poland and the other breakaway poor countries of the former USSR.
--Foreign policy. This was suppose to be his strong point, yet nothing. If the surge is working why haven't we at least recalled all the Blackwater contractors and cancelled that multi-million dollar contract? No timetable for leaving the Middle East, yet, we are going to continue to stretch the limits of the military in the former USSR breakaway countries, while simultaneously provoking Iran.
SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.
They really played the POW thing up the last four days...but they never seem to mention what happened before he was captured - flying planes dropping bombs on human beings in an illegal war. It's just causing death and destruction yeah USA! USA!
Just sick of it. Killing vietnamese people is not a qualification to be president. He survived, which is more than I would have done, but it just sort of gets old. Luckily, after mccain, I think we are done with the veterans for president angle.

Yeah, luckily. Did you spit in the faces of our Vets when they came home?
Seem like whole country did at that time period, plus, they made these soldiers feel as though they'd failed their country and should be ashamed.
Many people are beginning to ask why McCain is seemingly the only war hero of Vietnam. How many people, by name have been called heroes who have served in Vietnam? How many Vietnam vets have even been recognized during the course of McCain's campaign as heroes or even survivors of the Vietnam war?

Considering the hatchet job that was done to John Kerry in the 2004 campaign, can any party Republican give Democrats bullshit about not supporting Vietnam vets?

well, McCain has said he would veto that nasty McCain/Kennedy immigration reform bill. Talk about "Being for it before I was against it" The guy fucking wrote the bill, now he will veto it. Just because he has gotten in bed with the neocons and the religious kooks. To the point where the RNC forced a religious kook onto the ticket. Would McCain 2000 have let anyone force a VP onto the ticket? No, McCain 2000 would have picked who he wanted for VP
I just don't support the taking of a life in any circumstance. He undoubtedly took lives by dropping bombs on human beings and bombs don't generally sort out the innocent. It is factual to say that they fail to mention that part of it.
John Mccain was not sitting in his living room with his family and all of a sudden he was kidnapped by the vietnamese.
Considering the hatchet job that was done to John Kerry in the 2004 campaign, can any party Republican give Democrats bullshit about not supporting Vietnam vets?
Even worse than what they did to kerry, how about Max Cleland. the guy left a few legs and an arm behind in Vietnam, and they painted him as a coward.
Either way, I am free to not support the war or the troops. That doesn't automatically make me an A-hole that would spit on a soldier. I respect the role they play and know that they are, and have historically been, pushed into some bad situations.
THIS JUST IN
SHOCKING NEWS---Rush Limbaugh is on fox News right now, and he thinks McCain did a fantastic, magnificent, inspiring job tonight. I really thought he would not like it.....I mean, in January, he trashed mcCain on a daily basis. I can't believe he is now a McCain supporter. Oh look, Hannity is now McCain's #1 fan. He hated McCain. What's this? James Dobson, who said during the primaries that he would never vote for McCain, not under any circumstances, is now going to vote for McCain.
THIS JUST IN ---- SHOCKING NEWS
Joe Biden is for Obama, even though he said Obama was inexperienced during the primaries.
Try a little harder. Once your party picks a nominee you are stuck.
Max Cleland - that was a disgrace. A person cannot sacrafice much more. The topper being that the attacker is a guy that openly avoided service because of who he was. Only in the USA!
Are we serious. Am I the only one who respected John Kerry more for coming home and speaking out about the attrocity that the Vietnam War was. Who would know better than someone on the front lines. Apparently that makes him a traitor because we have be rah rah about things and morale. I would say that 60,000 of their brothers in body bags really dragged down morale on it's own.
What's Limbaugh, Hannity and Dobson's excuse, an e-mail from Murdoch telling them to get on the bandwagon. They're entertainment broadcasters, they don't have to tow a party line.

I think it started slow, but in the end, it was OK. He's not a soaring, inspirational orator. If the ability to make a goose-bumpy speech is one's No. 1 criterion for electing a president, vote for Obama.
I think, in the end, McCain accomplished what he set out to accomplish with the speech.
The POW stuff is an important part of his narrative ... and it colors the way he would lead ... I think it was important to have in there. We all might have heard it all before, but there were millions of people tuning into him for the first time last night who hadn't.
All in all, the speech was decent. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a Democrat, and that's OK.

carrying water for the water carriers. wow. There's just a bit of difference between someone who's running against someone saying something, and the pundits. These guys flip flopped so fast. They even flip flopped on flip flopping. That was their biggest complaint about Kerry, but they are willing to ignore mcCain's flip flopping. That's flip flopping on the topic of flipflopping. These guys all tried very hard to see to it that McCain was not the nominee, and now they all have to get in line behind him. You're right about one thing. your party is stcu with Mccain. the shame is, if he were running as McCain 2000 he would probably win. But even McCain 2000 would not vote for McCain 2008. He'd be disgusted by him.
What's Limbaugh, Hannity and Dobson's excuse, an e-mail from Murdoch telling them to get on the bandwagon. They're entertainment broadcasters, they don't have to tow a party line.
correction---entertainment broadcasters who have no credibility now. Not that they had much anyway. especially the junkie who said all drug addicts should be thrown in jail. Until it turned out he is a drug addict. Flip-flop

I'm not a McCain fan but I give credit where it is due.
He fought in a war and did time as a POW. I doubt anyone here has done that.
Barack Obama hung out with guys like Bill Ayers and had his face buried in a pile of blow. I'm guessing there are probably some here that have done that.
So yeah Obama probably does have more in common with the liberal Dem.

is it true that he crashed 5 planes during his naval career, and graduated from the naval academy ranked 894th out of 899 students?
Don't bother. Everything I've seen from unsung, no offense intended, is that he's a Moving Train version of Hannity.
That's true and funny.

But could I pretty please hear that just one more time. No disrepect intended. However - on the opposite hand sits Obama- and he discuscts me more than words could possibly decribe. No, but thanks for adding your opinion.
I find it quite hypocritical of someone who criticizes one who served their country by pointing out that someone was shot down. Does that mean the person who served doesn't deserve the respect of a soldier?

I'm not criticizing McCain or anyone else who go shot down or whatever. I just don't think that serving in a war that long ago, and spending that horrible time as a POW (as admirable as that may be), really is any qualification to be president.
I just think that the world, our military and everything has changed so much, that serving in Vietnam isn't all that helpful to being commander in chief in 2008.
