It had more to do with his competition.
A whacko religous nutjob who thinks this planet is 6000 years old
A composite politician who catered his every position based on what the polls say. Everything he is for now, he was against at some point. Plus, he's a mormon, which scared people (3 First Ladies?) and he looks like a Muppet
A thrice married scandal ridden guy who can't get thru 1 sentence without saying 9/11. This clown had too many scandals to count. NYPD chauffering his mistress around town....Bernie Kerik....His kids do not speak to him....
A lousy actor who was either pretending to be a Senator, or pretending to be an actor.0 -
SiD wrote:The only chance McCain has of winning this election is separating himself from the most disdained president of our time. That's just a fact. The Republicans are going to vote for McCain regardless. But what about that HUGE Independent vote, and all those really pissed off Hillary supporters? Yeah, I think McCain nailed the entire convention. Palin to McCain. They definitely earned some votes they didn't have before the convention.
So what did he do to bring in those people he mentioned?

Doh!
Palin is a clown, even more so that old man McCain!0 -
THIS JUST IN
SHOCKING NEWS---Rush Limbaugh is on fox News right now, and he thinks McCain did a fantastic, magnificent, inspiring job tonight. I really thought he would not like it.....I mean, in January, he trashed mcCain on a daily basis. I can't believe he is now a McCain supporter. Oh look, Hannity is now McCain's #1 fan. He hated McCain. What's this? James Dobson, who said during the primaries that he would never vote for McCain, not under any circumstances, is now going to vote for McCain.0 -
McCain is senile, and Palin is a crazy bitch.

That's what I wanted to do was to confuse. I don't care for either side but I want McCain to take on this mess this country is in. However it's gauranteed that Obama will be the next President.
WHY, Simply money. The large amonts of money that poured in from the last 2 elections won't be this time around, that and some voter fraud. Those with large accounts to donate won't because they don't want a Republican in office this time around but in 4 years when not much has changed in this country. It will ALL be blamed on that current administration (Obama) and Republicans will bring the candidate they REALLY want in the White House.
Like another Bush, JEB.

on the topic of money, it says something that Obama raised $8 million in the hours after Palin's speech. He raised $8 mil in about 16 hours0 -

They've surpassed $10 million now. Palin has ignited both sides.0 -

The reason I said that is because of what I heard on several occasions in DC and Palm Beach, FL.
I work for a Mega millionaire and his brother a billionaire with power influence in DC and with Republicans were talking starting in January. In one of those exclusive cigar smoking rooms of very rich and powerful people. Basically they were saying/plotting that millions that they would normally give to the Republican party weren't going to be given in this election.
At that time Obama was just starting to emerge as the Democratic leader in the primaries. They spoke of how if he won the election how so much attention would go to a black to TRY and put this country back together again. They spoke about how that won't happen and in 4 years he'll be blamed, then we can chose whomever we want with all the disgust with the country pointed towards Obama.
They spoke in their meetings on other political matters but that was the one that stood out to me. At the time I didn't pay it much mind till a couple months ago I found out how powerful and influential these men were.
So this is why I can say Obama has a huge advantage going in and I can gaurantee he'll win. He won't get my help and I sure hope whomever gets there in the White House can actually fix our up-teen problems in this country caused by the last 8 years of this current Administration.

How sad that all during the primaries McCain and the RNC belittled Obama's call for Change, yet, they couldn't even come up with their own original idea and copied Obama's call for Change. Unfortunately, McCain's platform offered nothing of substance.
--No mention of the illegal immigrant agenda, especially, since a) AZ is widely used as an entrance point, and b) since the 'border fence' in AZ has been put on hold, and, c) the prospects of making AZ a major component in the NAFTA Superhighway deal.
--The economy. No mention of keeping jobs in America, how does he expect to revitalize America's economy. Where are the tax cuts coming from? We have been getting tax cuts for the past 6 years and look at the state of our economy.
The old cry of cutting government spending. You know what cutting government spending will do nothing if it doesn't include a substantial cut in the Defense budget and that is not going to happen under McCain. Seeing that Bush just called for a $1 billion dollar aid package for the Republic of Georgia on top of the humanitarian relief which McCain supports, the status quo is in place. No mention on how we are going to handle all these returning vets with long term medical and financial needs other than praising their service, or where the new military will come from to say in the Middle East, to fight in Iran, to protect the Republic of Georgia, Poland and the other breakaway poor countries of the former USSR.
--Foreign policy. This was suppose to be his strong point, yet nothing. If the surge is working why haven't we at least recalled all the Blackwater contractors and cancelled that multi-million dollar contract? No timetable for leaving the Middle East, yet, we are going to continue to stretch the limits of the military in the former USSR breakaway countries, while simultaneously provoking Iran.SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. They really played the POW thing up the last four days...but they never seem to mention what happened before he was captured - flying planes dropping bombs on human beings in an illegal war. It's just causing death and destruction yeah USA! USA!
Just sick of it. Killing vietnamese people is not a qualification to be president. He survived, which is more than I would have done, but it just sort of gets old. Luckily, after mccain, I think we are done with the veterans for president angle.
"Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight. Nothing is inevitable here. We're Americans, and we never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history... We make history. "

Seem like whole country did at that time period, plus, they made these soldiers feel as though they'd failed their country and should be ashamed.
Many people are beginning to ask why McCain is seemingly the only war hero of Vietnam. How many people, by name have been called heroes who have served in Vietnam? How many Vietnam vets have even been recognized during the course of McCain's campaign as heroes or even survivors of the Vietnam war?SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. well, McCain has said he would veto that nasty McCain/Kennedy immigration reform bill. Talk about "Being for it before I was against it" The guy fucking wrote the bill, now he will veto it. Just because he has gotten in bed with the neocons and the religious kooks. To the point where the RNC forced a religious kook onto the ticket. Would McCain 2000 have let anyone force a VP onto the ticket? No, McCain 2000 would have picked who he wanted for VP0 -
I just don't support the taking of a life in any circumstance. He undoubtedly took lives by dropping bombs on human beings and bombs don't generally sort out the innocent. It is factual to say that they fail to mention that part of it.
John Mccain was not sitting in his living room with his family and all of a sudden he was kidnapped by the vietnamese.it's all about you...0 -

Even worse than what they did to kerry, how about Max Cleland. the guy left a few legs and an arm behind in Vietnam, and they painted him as a coward.0
