Yeah, it'll be nice to have the dems finally all supporting one person.
Bitching about the little differences was getting old. Now it's time to bitch about the slightly bigger differences. Hahaha!

Hopefully this will put people in a good mood, so when I'm asking for their signature to get Nader on the ballot, they'll be like, "No problem, my dude is a slam dunk. Peace!"

  • Wasn't this already done with over a month ago? I mean everyone knew Hillary wasn't going to get the nod. Any dems who wanted to unite probably already have or will just continue to have sour grapes over their guy not taking it... like there was some huge difference between the two, anyway. :p The only difference I see is that this makes what we already knew to be the case now 'official'.

Don't mind me...continue on with your celebration. :)

i agree, but it will be "official" now, only when it is official has history been made.

and that is far from true about the dems already uniting! its going to take what Hillary does and says from here on to get some of her supporters to back Obama.
that is really where the a lot of the excitement will come from. IMO.
    but whatever.

Well that freak McCain is giving a really bad speech right now (check CNN).
I'm expecting a good speech from Obama,he's good at the scripted stuff.

Why are people so excited? it's just another bad politician getting the nomination right, like the only difference? This ones black.

My dad will be happy. He put $100 on Obama and the same for McCain after the Iowa caucus, 'cause something about how long it's been since someone won the presidency without winning that state in the primaries.

Gotta love my dad's political priorities.

It didn't seem like a 'Race'... more like getting rakes over hot bar-b-que brickets by employees from the Department of Motor Vehicles on Qualludes, if you ask me.

As if Hillary would do anything but encourage her supporters to back Obama, seriously. What scenario can you see her doing anything but that?

Does this mean everyone gets to say the days of racism are over???

Historically, haven't black MEN been awarded rights (such as voting and owning land) before women, anyway? Aren't they usually are placed in positions of power before women too? I think we're just staying historically on course.

Some People will say it's over...But for the majority of people who are not white will still know, racism is not really over and that it will be around for many years to come.

Also we need to see (hate to point it out) if someone trys to kill Obama or not. You know, he win's and everyones like "racism is over!" 'bang' "nevermind"

Yeah, my question was mos' def' rhetorical. I see racism everyday. Racist acts are committed and racist views are held by every ethnicity I've come across - sadly.

So do you think it's more or less likely that an attempt will be made on his life if Clinton gets the VP spot (assuming they win)?

Fun to speculate, 'cause I'm a daydreamer (for good and bad things).

    Terribly tragic if it happens.

The possibility could be averted if we all just voted NADER!!!! :D

Now that is something to sing about...but it will only morph into Obama vs McCain 24/7. And now people will actually start paying McCain some attention...however good or bad that turns out to be. These last few months McCain has been non-existent...now he'll get his turn to share the spotlight. This competition between Hillary and Obama has really kept all the focus and attention on the Dems and it's true that PR is good no matter what. People often get behind someone simply because of name recognition and hearing about them the most(so sad but so true). McCain is at a huge disadvantage for this reason and of course his lack of charisma...no magazine cover smile there(ew), not to mention how his ideas/policies will be automatically associated with the increasingly record breaking unpopularity of the Bush/Cheney whitehouse which is simply riddled with failed policies. This election really shouldn't be anywhere near close, imo.

get ur boy to do something other then just around election time, and i would listen to what he has to say more closely, and take him more serious.

i like him, he just dont do crap as far as a 3rd party goes except around election time.

I think between elections he does things like go after big corps, pushing for safty regulations, you know, saving the country. small stuff

Common misconception. Nader is out there doing the same work every year....you just hear about it even less. Plenty of people have posted things proving this point wrong...here's a good example.

    http://forums.pearljam.com/showpost.php?p=5391309&postcount=235

I find it funny how people hold Nader to such a high standard and can't name me hardly anything Obama has done to deserve all the praise and admiration he's receiving. I wonder why you seem so intent on taking Obama seriously. What has be done to wow you?

Yeah, he should just write more books about how awesome he is and then go on
publicity tours selling himself to everyone. Then people can start taking him serious. All this crap about fighting the good fight against corruption and working to improve life for the rest of us is pale in comparison. ;)

i agree that Nader does great things for the country, dont get me wrong.

im just saying if we as a country want , ( or need ) a 3rd party, he should spearhead this thing and really get it going. not just around election time.

i know he does a lot of good. im just talking about the 3rd party deal.

anyway, i dont want to argue really. i was just excited about the whole "history" thing.

this is why i dont come to the MT much. lol.

I'm wondering if Obama doesnt take Hillary's calls this week if she will decide to run as a third party candidate out of spite, perhaps a Clinton/Nader ticket for the people shunned by Obama.

nah, we dont even need to think of that, Obama has already tried to call her tonight, but his people are saying that he got her voice mail . so she is not taking his calls at the moment. but her people are saying they were in a bad reception area at the airport, now they are trying to get a hold of him and they got his VM. lol. they are playing phone tag right now as we speak according to CNN. lol.
