If your neighbor is an asshole, then yes it is bad to help him.
Its perfectly logical for Iran to support anyone who attacks us. I understand this. that doesn't make it ok.
Iran is basically setting themselves up as an enemy to America (weak as they are), and I live in America, and most of my friends and family live in America, so tell me why I should be ok with them supporting attacks on America again?
Thats a mighty powerful sense of morality you have there when you are ok with America getting attacked because we were bad. Fuck, I would think some sense of self preservation would kick in eventually. Your self loathing must know no bounds. Are you suicidal?
So what would you do to protect yourself? How far would you go? How much of a hippocrtit would you willing to be? Also..way to go as far as following the right wing bs. "you are ok with america geting attacked" way to take an apple and turn it into an orange while making an ass of yourself, typical.

I'm glad you're using the adjectives "good" and "bad" in your effort to define Iran. The bad thing is that you're advocating the most primal of constructs to aid your argument. The bad neighbor thing is insightful and sounds a common tone among the everyday living that we do here in America. The truth, though, is that Iran is not a neighbor and never will be. For you to suggest that Iran is "setting up" (in the neighborhood?) as an enemy of ...your neighbor? is a bit out there in left field. It's like one of those media-contrived scenarios that has us common Americans trying to guess what the next color terror alert level might be.
...
and Iran has been the enemy of American since November 4, 1979. This is nothing new and we shouldn't be surprized. If we are surpized, then we are either fail to learn from history or just haven't been paying attention.
As for worrying about America getting attacked... again. I am more concerned with the ones who attacked us the first time... Saudi Arabia.
.....and the USA is happy to sell the Saudi's (and their allies) 20 billion worth of weapons. backing the Saudis is one thing. selling them billions in high explosives and rocket delivery systems is quite another. especially since Saudi has failed to support the USA in Iraq - and it's failed singularly to combat terrorism within its own borders.
these people are Islamic extremists, unstable personally and nationally, and would sooner anihilate the West than look at it. do not be surprised if in years to come, the guns we're selling the Saudis are trained away from Iran, and towards us. just as the guns we sold Saddam turned against us, when Iran became old-hat. just as the training we gave Osama was used against us, just as soon as the Soviets became old news.

I remember the day I was turned against the "war on terror". I was going to either an interview or an appointment with a job agency. In a story in the Metro (a free paper we get on buses), Afghanistan was trying to execute someone for converting from Islam. That was the day I realised that these wars were not trying to rid the middle east of Islamic fundamentalism after all.

I'm not saying it's okay for Iran to back the Taliban or rebels in Afghanistan... just as it's not okay for us to support Opium warlords in Afghanistan to... both are bad guys. We just happen to choose the lesser of two evils. But, we should remember, Opium Warlords are always going to be Opium Warlords, not matter if we hate them less than the Taliban.

For the most part I dont disagree with any of the above, except I don't generally have a problem with getting one enemy to kill the other. We should have been putting more pressure on Saudi Arabia since the start. Funny how our biggest ally in this so called "war on Terror" is also the biggest contributor to 9/11 and is producing more terrorists than anyone else.
Also..way to go as far as following the right wing bs. "you are ok with america geting attacked" way to take an apple and turn it into an orange while making an ass of yourself, typical.
haha in just one day i have been called both a left wing nut and a right wing nut. i must be doing something right to piss off so many dogmatic, narrow-minded idiots who are incapable of seeing both sides of the coin...
So what would you do to protect yourself? How far would you go? How much of a hippocrtit would you willing to be?
I'd be pretty sure i would go so far as to not want to get attacked by China! Call me a Hippocrit all you want, my friends and family come first. If they piss someone off and they get attacked for it, I'll protect them. I'll worry about reprimanding them after I deal with the immediate threat. I wonder if you feel the same way.
as far as the america should be attacked thing:
hahah YOU SAID IT YOURSELF! hilarious! I was just trying to understand how far you were willing to go with it. I'll assume that you aren't that big of an idiot and you were being sarcastic but still its a bit ridiculous.

It isn't real, and it doesn't work.
I think you misunderstood me or something i'm not sure. but anyway i'll try to reply. I was just replying to Cosmo's example. In this example Iran wouldn't be the neighbor, they are the inv...ackk!!!! you know what screw it! I'm not getting into this. Go back and read both posts again. Honestly i dont understand anythign you ever say. You must be entirely over my head.
I would define Iran as "bad" in this case since I am an American and they are aiding American enemies in an effort to weaken America and kill American soldiers. Sorry. Perhaps if I lived in Iran my outlook would be different, but I dont live there.
As Cosmo said Iran isn't really setting themselves up to be anything. They have been against us since '79. This is common knowledge.

I completely agree with you. That whole notion of "The Enemy of my Enemy is my FRIEND" as an excuse has got to end. We didn't learn from Stalin... we didn't learn from Bin Laden... we didn't learn from Saddam Hussein... and we obviously haven't learned from Afghani Opium Warlords and aren't learning from Pakistan. Pakistan who, by the way, set up the original Taliban in Afghanistan, already have nukes... AND tested and deployed delivery systems. The only 'Friend' we have there is asshole Musharraf... and the only reason he's our friend is because we are shoveling millions of tax dollars and weapons into his pockets.
...
As for Saudi Arabia.. I'll be there are more moronic Americans willing to bomb France for not playing in part our little adventure into Mesopotamia... than to go after the fucking Saudis who were the vast majority of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

on the surface this is probably true to some extend, but its not as cut and dry as this. pakistan is a complex clusterfuck of a place. probably would take paragraphs of in-depth knowledge about the place to accurately expalin our relationship with musarff and the rest of the Pakistani government.
Let the rest of the world deal with Iran. We're fucked enough already with Iraq (and yes, I am an American citizen, and I can't wait until this idiot is out of office).
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
