Why is Gun Control a BAD thing?

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to
1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves,
were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5
million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a
total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves
were rounded up and exterminated.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million
political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up
and exterminated.
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981,
100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend them selves , were rounded
up and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979,
300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one
million educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up
and exterminated.
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century
because of gun control: 56 million.
It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were
forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed
by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more
than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:

List of 7 items:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44
percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up
300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in,
the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease
in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward
in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their
prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults
of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how
public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense
was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The
Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians
disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and,
yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind
them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are 'citizens'.
Without them, we are 'subjects'.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because
they knew most Americans were ARMED!

    I'm sorry, you are correct.
    Several of them (China, USSR, and Germany) were SECOND world.

    Definition being 2nd world = communist economy.
    3rd world = worse than communist.

    That was what the original definition of 3rd world implied ... not even up to communist standards.

    Well not that I disagree with you but that statistic for Victoria probably includes death by guns which for the most part are either due to Police Shootings, we have a lot of those here AND the Gangland wars, which doesn't effect the general population so much. :)

    please explain why the US has the highest, by far, gun related deaths of any country in the world. its not even close. please explain this away just after some other fuck head comes on to MY CAMPUS and shoots 22 people with 3 guns...

    btw...2nd amendment was included to prevent britain from re-taking america...hasn't really been relevant lately, imho.

    You are mistaken, the 2nd amendment is there to protect us from tyranny of anykind, not just England. Plus the right to defend your family and your property.

    Have you ever thought that it is the 2nd amendment. The only other amendment that was more important is the first amendment (freedom of speech). That, in and of itself should show you how important it really is.........

    but, I don't think that's a great reason for us as a civilization to just cow down and be slaves to a Government that is oppressing us

    the time may come when we will have to stand up for ourselves, how will we do that without guns?

    There's a difference between not allowing any guys and making people pass real tests to own a gun.

    And yes, rifles included, not just hand guns. It's sad that we can't come up with some rigorous test for people to take before they purchase a gun.

    do you at least concede that the laws should be tightened up relating to who should actually be able to purchase one or be in possession of one? surely you don't think it's a good idea for anyone and everyone to just be able to go out and buy one?

    if i was armed i don't know if i could pull the trigger. i just don't think that you can look at it the way you are. ok, so i do concede that as many people may not have died in that instance, but how do you then measure that against the number of deaths that may arise (for whatever reason), from the use of these guns by everyone having one that wouldn't have before. I'm talking about everyday things that happen like road rage, arguments, disagreements, things that would normally blow over without the use of guns. I wonder if it would be just so easy for someone to whip out their gun and blow them away in the heat of the moment. That's what really worries me, if that makes sense.

    Fighter Jets? I don't know anyone that owns one of those... do you? Do they have an endless supply of missiles and bombs?

    How many c-130 Specter Gunships do you and you 2nd amendment buddies own? Cause the US Government owns a lot of them...

    Yeah we got the US Government shaking in it's combat boots cause we have a lot of pistols and rifles...

    They don't need 70 million guns. they got enough god damn bombs that if they really wanted to stop you they wouldn't have to pull trigger. And that's just the start of it.

    Wow.

    You are totally right. Every student and teacher should have a gun to prevent shit like this. Of course, pay no mind to the fact the killer wants to die himself so the thought of being killed won't stop him. Even better, he'd already have a gun ready.
    And the best part, if he starts shooting in a crowded area (such as a university college) there will be students with guns everywhere shooting at him (or at each other, because in midst of all that chaos who really knows who was the original killer).

    Brilliant plan.

    A lot of people naturally assume they'd fight against their government if their government turned on them. But the fact is, a lot of people in nazi Germany were with their government, because they didn't feel their gov't was turning on them but actually making life better. A gun won't protect you from propaganda, brainwashing and fear. You might think your government is right, they wouldn't have to take away your guns when you're with them.
    A tyrannical government rarely exists without support from (part of) the people.

    Banning guns totally = bad

    No way I'm letting "authority figures" carry guns if I can't get one. Ideally, I'd love it if everyone destroyed their guns. But since that will not happen, I should have the right to obtain one if I ever feel I need one. We need better gun control laws, but banning them is definitely not something I want.

    btw, I've never owned or even shot a gun in my life.
