Machine Guns and 'Assault Rifles' are not the same and are governed by a completely different set of rules.
well, i don't know the specifics of the bill... maybe it wasn't an assault rifle bill... i just remember reading that there was a loophole that made it possible for a kid to fire a gun. doesn't matter what kind of gun. a gun is a gun to me.
Grown men can't be trusted with guns, let alone kids.
i take offense to this remark. you don't know me as someone who has had a gun in my possession since i was 14, and you don't know me 24 years after that as a father of 2 boys ages 12 and 6. i've done a fine job as a father up to this point, and i'll continue to do so. and when i feel my children are of the age they can respect a gun, i'll teach them the saftey of using one. just because some dolt decided to let his kid fire a machine-fucking-gun doesn't make all men mindless fools.

What's really sad is that an 8 year old boy shooting himself in the head with a fucking Uzi isn't enough to make people question gun legislation.
8 year old boy. Uzi. Dead.
Educate yourself.
UZI's are a Class 3 firearm and are very much regulated.
Also this father is a medical director so he is no redneck like some are saying here. He simply used extremely poor judgement and was completely irresponsible.
as in what do i own? i have a 22 caliber rifle for small game and a 12 gauge shotgun for big game. i don't see the point in owning weapons that aren't meant for hunting. would i like to fire an uzi at a shooting range? hell yeah, i would. would i bring my kids with me to fire it? hell no, i wouldn't. at least not when they're only 12 and 6. if i had an opportunity when they were both, say...over 20 i'd ask them if they'd want to come along.

you're BetterThanUs though. Unfair comparison.
I am smelly.
Guns for hunting purposes, or a fucking Uzi?
"Come on down folks! It's a Fucking Firearm Free-for-all! Special rates for kids!"
You can shoot any gun you want, without age limit or without license and the best part is, you are in complete control.
How can it not be legal? I mean, what's the worst that could happen? You're in complete control.

I think scb's post says it all:
She put like 5 or 6 links to stories about gun violence, accidents or stupidity.

Yeah... except we're talking about a little boy, not a can of soda.
Awesome!

And the NRA has nothing to do with this.

I guess I owe 69charger an apology, then, for giving him shit when he said in the gun thread:
So, hey man, I'm sorry. You were right. Obviously I was wrong. I'll know better than to doubt you next time.
