Maybe where you where stationed thats the case, but back in 04, maybe 4 people including me, voted out of my shop of 20+ people. Some of them where from key states like Ohio. When I asked them why they didn't vote for a new boss, the common answer was "voting doesn't mean anything, my one vote won't change a thing". I think they were too lazy to send in their ballot back to their state of record.
Most guys I worked with didn't care about that kind of stuff, as long as thier pay check rolled in.

you answered your own question, more than likely. i do not think those in the miltary simply 'side with their own'...such as simply going with mccain since he is a decorated POW. in reality, what difference does that make? i would think, like many others, they are looking at the future president as to what he can do for them, the country, the world...right NOW....and not simply his military history. so perhaps obsama's message resonates more clearly and in sync with the bulk of troops abroad. to me personally, no surprise there. if i were abroad in service, i'd want to get the fuck home asap. obama seems the more likely candidate of the 2 to work towards that sooner. simple.

I hope you are not serious. George H W Bush served in WW2. In that he flew 58 missions and was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross, three Air Medals, and the Presidential Unit Citation awarded to San Jacinto. That was according to wiki.
