    Skelton got a little testy!

I have to say, I would be irritated as well. And I'm against this war. There is a time and a place for 'verbal' protest and this is NOT one of those places. Personally, I rather hear the speakers on both sides of this matter opposed to folks shouting over each other. I'd throw them out as well. BTW, Skelton is a democrat, I believe. Nothing gets under my skin more than fools that make a cause I hold dear look ridiculous.

I've been a protester in DC and I have to say that to see that those crazily-pink-clad women were even allowed into the proceedings tells me something about the attitude of DC right now. They were allowed in for a reason. From my experience with security there, normally, they wouldn't have gotten past the front door.

I think they were legit. The fact that they were allowed in is fishy. Or, media-oriented. The Show is for the Average Joe and Jane, remember.

They could have had people outside polling the protesters so as to to pull in a few guaranteed nuts just waiting to pop.

I gaurantee you somewhere in this proceedings the setup for war with IRAN will certainly come. The bombing of Iran will come before this year is out.

A scary thought considering what's happening in Iraq.

Nope. You have to recall the desperation for Iraq when 9/11 went down. Remember the Rumsfeld memo on 9/11 or the day after. Basically it said, "get anything on Iraq so we can invade." That desperation isn't there now for Iran. Iran is a measurement in the media in the years to come for the American people's thirst to buy into another Iraq. If things continue as they are, it will happen, but it's probably 10 years down the road.

The only exception to this would be if Israel came up for a reason to pre-emptively strike Iran in the near future, and so then the US would find itself obligated to aid any further effort in that.

Sadly I fore see the American public buying into this nonsense. This administration is very good at selling their agenda to it's citizens I have to give them credit.

It sort of reminds me of Germany and the Nazi Party and how they deceived the citizens of that country.

It's one big sell and justify the war campaign. Holy shit...this could go on all day...week...month?

edit: They just kicked it up to a whole new level. No wonder there was so much setup time for this. This is a full on campaign.

  • Fox actually cut away from the footage while Petraeus stumbled on Ackerman's question, while the reporter talked over it. Seems they have a little public safety net set up to help gloss over the tough questions.

    Devious.

  • Old man Lantos was kickin' out the jams, huh ? I especially liked the look on Petraeus' face while the ol' fella was speaking. Mmmm, good times....
  • I have a serious issue with MoveOn.org's Bullshit ad in this mornings paper headlined something like "General betray us".

That kind of ignorant shit is on the same level as what O'Reilly and Limbaugh do, and isn't helping anything. Bunch of idiots that want to blindly run out of Iraq. Ain't happening, so let's discuss reality.

12 months minimum to withdrawl from Iraq properly. I agree the Iraqi National Police should be disbanded, and it looks like it's happening now. They are take the good ones and placing them in the local police and army, and the others troublemakers are being let go. Look seriously at a federal system like Biden has been talking about for 2 yrs. This can all happen, and major headway made over the next 6 months while we slowly start to move troops out. Then evaluate where we are at, and continue draw down, but slow it down or stop it as needed to help the Iraqi's keep control. Local government is working, and that's the way out pushing it everywhere.

probably take closer to 18 months to get out this way, but it is probably the best way with an opportunity for success, unless we stay in Iraq for a yrs to come.

  • the anti-war Dem's groups would be far more productive catering to the middle, than the far left, I know doing so would effect how much money they get donated, but if they really want to make a difference, and help get pressure on those in Congress who's vote's are needed to overturn a veto by the President, then they back off on the rhetoric, and push intelligent debate.

Also, for far to many that say Congress cut the money for Vietnam, and that's how we got out, no nothing of history. The amendment to keep funds from being used for Vietnam was passed in 1976 by Congress, when we had already got most of our troops out, and of course it happened before the election.

You cut funds, you hurt the troops, you hurt our military, a military, especially the Army, that is broken, with the majority of units below C3 readiness, which is non-deployable. the Army is still have issues with recruitment, and no one knows how bad the reenlistment situation is, because so many troops are on stop loss, which means they have to stay in the military until further notice even though their normal enlistment time has been met. Though, when you sign up for the U S military, you are signing an 8 yr contract, regardless of how long the contract states your active duty time is.
