I can understand this poster (Juberoo) having an agenda. I always do out here. I can understand this poster using insults as a way of getting her point across. It's pretty common around here, and in life--trying to trump others and to win at their expense. There is a lot of imbalanced interaction going on! I can understand this poster not owning her emotional issues and conflicts, and instead projecting them on others with terms like "pathetic". Our society encourages us to discard our emotions and to be logical, even though it causes us to distort our own processes.

The bottom line is that when you point the finger at someone else, there are three more pointing back at you...and in biblical terms, it's the bit about pointing to the speck in your brother's eye, when you have a plank in your own. It doesn't work.

You know... I was eating the other day at this restaurant, and there were these two women beside me (I couldn't see them b/c of the partition). One of them was going on ...and on...and on...forever...talking bad about all her "friends"...it was insane...35 minutes of hubris, mal-intent, and bile.

I thought to myself...yeah...she creates it... Her life is miserable because she spins it....she's creating her own continued misery right now.

Her friend eating with her will now go to all her friends casually...(it WILL slip at some point) and the people she was talking about will all know about it...and whoever else becomes privy to it along the way, like dirty laundry.

Honestly...what an idiot. I dislike people that always gossip...it drives me crazy unless it's humorous and unassuming or harmless.

It's like that song "you only do it to yourself"

I can see this in my own life from driving my car, to casually talking, to being angry or sarcastic. It all comes back around, and the harder you send it out, the faster it comes back.

Let me tell you I was so happy to get out of earshot from that noise

Sometimes I tune into my own smug, self-righteous self and I think...."oh my goodness, no wonder my boyfriend thinks I'm an egotist!!" :D It is such a challenge to be willing to face the insanity of perpetually undermining one's self and one's life, and to listen to the learning experiences that show us the direct cause and effect of what our own dysfunction brings. It's so humbling. That's why apparently the really well-adjusted people are very humble. I wouldn't know, though! Getting caught up in the nonsense of the ego--believing our own PR when we know better--well, we're just ensuring ourselves a learning experience or two.

The zaniest for me is when I'm caught in those scenarios where I'm playing out a dysfunctional role, and even though I see what's happening, I can't change it--I'm going full steam in ego-driven world. I can only observe the oncoming trainwreck and make it a point to learn for the next time...which doesn't always work! :)

I've been paying today for eating anti-life sustaining "pub food" yesterday! My whole mindset is off-kilter--I'm feeling harsh and argumentative.

Speaking of which, Roland, I think it's your fault that they limited our smiley usage on this board, what with your smiley-use-abuse!

    Gossip is interesting.
Everyone gossips, it's a human trait, as integral to us as breathing and shagging.
This board is just a gossip channel, and for anyone here to say they despise gossip is pretty damn funny to me.
Now, malicious behaviour is a different thing altogether.

I wonder what is really up Jubberoo's shirt to prompt this thread ?

I had no idea what the OP was talking about with this post. I was hoping it would become clear as it went along ... and so it has! Too funny!

Must be... I can't believe her friend sat through it all saying "yes...uh-huh...oh" over and over again... I would have probably been making wrist slicing motions with my dinner knife subconsciously...lol

  • This is a central problem with democracy and individual liberty: ignorant people.

Most of us could be trusted with our liberty enough to not infringe on others' liberties. We're educated enough to know that shooting your gun into the air could kill someone, to put it simply.

There will always be ignorant people who refuse to acquire knowledge though, and that is why anarchism cannot work. I need a government to enforce a code of ethics and morality.

Frequently, people that have little knowledge about the world want to have the same level of freedom as the rest of us: like little kids wanting to be adults. We find that a murderer cannot have the same level of freedom as the rest of us because he made an ignorant choice. Those people who refuse to listen to reason will eventually find themselves in a situation asking for help from the government.
All I know is that to see, and not to speak, would be the great betrayal.

as I already clarified Roland....it was a general comment based upon several observations. Those busybodies who think they "know" what prompted it are "ass"uming. Not suprising though.

i agree with you. then people have the decency to tell you that you're condescending and egoistic when you try to give them advice....

those kinds of people remind me of those stupid people from the horror movies who walk into the rooms where the killer is at.... but then in the end you kinda feel like, who cares, that person deserves to die for being stupid anyways.... j/k

That's an attitude. In the singular. Not the plural, "Attitudes", as you've called the subject of your post.
