I didn't think we would take 2 Bush terms....not really sure what's gonna happen these days. with all the voter fraud the republicans have done in the past (not the ACORN bs registration fraud, which has NO impact on an election, actual voter fraud) its hard to tell how its gonna turn out.

but, yeah, I am hoping for an Obama presidency.

Oh I'm sure they mean much. Obama's ahead in most of the polls in general.

I'll send him more $$ today. They take little contributions. If you only have $5, send $5.

  • My absentee ballot arrived today. I'm happy that it gives me time to do some research on some of the state reps, though I'll likely vote Green in most cases anyway.

    And seriously, paper ballots FTW.

It's down to 4 or 5 points in most polls. Joe the Plumber and "socialist!" are working where Ayres and Wright did not.

My sig may be wrong on margin, but it's gonna be right on victor.
I cannot come up with a new sig till I get this egg off my face.

It's been looking like an Obama victory all along. It will be fun to see people on here freak out about what he does over the course of the next four years.

I'm betting he'll have very few backers by then on here.

I'm confident that on the surface. things will improve. you know, just enough to satisfy people. But underneath it will be the same.

Will you be fine with that?

and what specific campaign promises you hope he sticks with? I 'hope' it's not the one where he say's that he will be a good friend to Israel and stand by it no matter what.

Just like how Bush has fucked up this country to no end, if Obama does the same they shouldn't be any backers from here backing or defending him either.

    Fair enough for ya.

oh wise one, please enlighten us on what the next four years will hold!

Under Obama the next four years will hold...

...low level of economic growth and two on-going wars. And probably something along the lines of what Biden just predicted. Watch. Absolutely, nothing will change, except growth in the private secor will slow and growth in the gov't sector will increase.... slowing overall economic growth.

He'll be out in four. Guaranteed.

Interesting were you saying this last year or are you just trying to paint as negative a picture that you can?

Nope. I'm stating what I believe will happen. Do you think it's possible the following will occur if Obama becomes president:

    1. Economic growth will be below the last 25 year average during the next four years

    2. We will remain in both Iraq and Afghanistan

    3. Some sort event, like the one Biden just predicted, will occur

    ...I think that's what's going to happen.

Put down your GOP talking points memo and actually listen to what Obama says.

He doesn't want Universal Health Care. People like me who have a great plan can keep it with no changes. He rarely if ever talks about welfare so I doubt you will see changes there.

And he said clearly in the debate he will cut failing programs and give more money to successful programs. If he does follow through with that it should create the money he needs for the programs he champions.

why does anyone who disagrees with Obama gets labeled as a GOP supporter? or is accused of talking points?

    im an independent...period

you can read anything you want off Obama.com and he will tell you what he wants but go read independent business websites or other non-partisan sites and do some research, everything i say is true, tho maybe exaggerated a little bit, but im not far off

these were probably on the agenda no matter who gets elected ... these are all predetermined by the shit we've been going through:

    1. Had to happen because of the deregulation in the financial markets coupled with the over inflation of housing prices which inevitably lead to this correction, it has to run it's course, ever major financial analyst has said it was going to take at least a year or more to sort through.

    2. We are in Iraq and Afghanistan, so of course we'll be in these wars for a few more years ... of course we'll be there ... if you're saying we'll have the same troop levels in 4 years, I think you're wrong ...

    3. Biden stated there will be an international crisis ... are you saying there won't be? There is ALWAYS an international crisis.

  • Honestly I'm hoping the polls narrow some before election day. A close poll will help Obama because his voters are less likely to get out the vote if there's a percieved large margin.

That is the funniest thing I have heard today. I wouldn't wish Bush upon any country, no matter what the circumstances. He has been a disaster. Obama CAN'T be any worse.

When I have a health care plan and $4000 toward my college tuition, I'm fairly certain I won't be wishing for Bush.

Yes, he most certainly can. The level of economic growth under Bush was solid. We could be in a recession for the next four years under Obama.

Things CAN absolutely get MUCH MUCH worse.

I never understood how the economy can grow with 3rd quarter record job losses and a 700 billion dollar bailout....can you explain this or are you with McCain on his stand that the economy is fundamentally sound?

As we just found out, the level of economimc growth under Bush was FALSE.

Again ... no matter who is elected, it's going to take a while to get out of this mess ... you're going to blame a recession (which, actually, we've been in) on Obama when that's the hand he's been dealt by the previous administration?

Way to pin the blame on the wrong guy.

READ. I said the "level" of economic growth under Bush. That means the entire duration of his eight-year term. Do I believe GDP growth is negative in the third quarter? Yes. But, it hasn't been released yet. So, I don't know. Moreover, it has yet to turn negative. As you probably know, or atleast I hope you do, it takes TWO quarters of negative GDP growth to have a textbook "recession".

I will repeat. The level of economic growth has been solid over the past eight years.
