  • I haven't been Obama's biggest supporter - nowhere near it :p - but it was nice seeing the soon-to-be president of the USA give a hopeful, coherent speech.

Also: nice to hear Springsteen's The Rising right now. :D

Very happy. Right now I am sitting in my hotel room in Saltillo, Mexico. The only English station on the TV is CNN. What an inspiring speech. President Barack Obama - wow.

P.S. - Had a lot of tequila with dinner tonight. My boss is hard-core Republican. That was fun.

Can anyone really be so cynical not to realize what we just witnessed? How enormous this is in our history?

Does anyone NOT want to give this a chance?

We witnessed a day that will go down in History, this is huge!!! and we were all part of it, we will remember this election forever and I know I sure will.
It'll be one of those elections I will sit and talk about to my grandchildren when I'm an old wrinkled lady...

I look forward to the next 4 years with President Obama and see the ball start to roll.. :)

I was getting excited when it looked like WV might go for Barack. I know Fox called it early but I was holding out hope for a little while that they would have to change it.

West Virginia is a Democratic stronghold for Senators and Representatives, but keep voting for Republican Presidential candidates. Many (like my father-in-law) fall for the "he's gonna take my gun" accusations made every four years by the NRA.

Can't you just hear that healin' startin' already? Mmmm, smell that change! Over 48% of voters wanted the other guy, so easy on the rebuke there.

I'm blown away. I've said every chance I get that McCain would win. I was convinced right until Obama won PA.

I'm glad he won. McCain's a better man that Bush, but he's looked to be falling apart in this campaign and the chance of President Bush II (Palin) was just too much to take. That said, he's got his work cut out for him. I hope he's as effective in office as he was getting to office. I hope he's not complacent. As I said in '04, I don't think I'd even want the job now. He's a smart guy, has a good work ethic and I even believe he wants to make America a better place. That's all good. But this would be a tough job for anyone. Best of luck Barrack.

    Well done. Thank you.
  • I wonder if the Bush admin will take all of the O's off of the keyboards in the White House like the Clintons took the W's off and taped them up above all of the doors. :D

  • I actually cried tears of joy. I had to wake up my 8 year old to watch the speech and the 11 PM over the top announcement.

He was a trouper because his school held an election where McCain won. He is excited to go to school tomorrow.

They are still dancing in the streets here in San Francisco ...

I went down to chat with my neighbors, 2+ hours and a bar trip later ... I'm back.

A few streets are blocked off, still dancing, waving flags, cheering, the party won't stop .... :)

I can't believe on the day I saw an actual, physical Chinese Democracy billboard poster saying "Order Now", America elected the first black president.

Something strange and unexpected is happening to the world...

Congratulations Americans, you made the right choice :) That was some pretty exciting shit. It seems I bowed out and went to sleep at just the wrong time here, I think they called Florida soon after.

Actually Florida wasn't the deciding factor this time. It was called for Obama before Florida was decided. Once he won the swing states of Pennsylvania and Ohio it was just a matter of time waiting for the polls to close in California, Washington, Oregon and Hawaii to make the announcement. Obama won by an electoral landslide by winning several swing states and overturning republican states as well.

Well yes, it's both a term used to denote any situation which is believed unlikely to ever happen and is also a political movement opposing the one-party rule in China.

    Why? :o

quite possibly, however according to axl rose chinese democracy defines the power struggle within guns'n'roses. a dictatorship if you will. no prizes for guessing who was chairman mao. :D

i just found it interesting you spoke of the term chinese democracy and the election of the first Black american president in the same breath. on one hand you got no freedom and on the other a manifestation of absolute freedom. nothing wrong there, just amusing myself. :D

Tuesday night I made it down to Grant Park. What a sight. Laughter, tears, respect, smiles, and a glow on all the faces melted the diverse crowd into a joyous sea of humanity.
