Are The Fans On Here Good People?

There seems to be a lot of hostility sometimes. (Biffy Clyro/Eddie thread).
It IS a Pearl Jam site AND Terms and Conditions does say at the beginning not to deliberatley cause arguments with people but it is quite easy to sometimes take something out of context here as we don't know each other.

But seriously, we all have a difference of opinion-which is great but we are all PJam fans too. None of us would have waited 24 hours to become a member if we didn't like the band. There is some quite cutting remarks that go back and forth that are quite funny but sometimes some people are just down right rude.

I read the thread with PJam in a chat room and I'm sure Eddie says at the end 'stay friends' or something like that.

Yeah, things do get a little heated in here from time to time. And yes, there are a few people who don't seem able to debate an issue without resorting to insults and other childish tactics ... but it's pretty easy to figure out who those people are and to ignore their posts.

BUT .... some of the kindest, most generous people you could ever hope to meet are also to be found here :)

Totally agree with you, HM :D I don't post much here on the AMT anymore.. just don't have it in me :p

I think it is the same as any place else there are always going to be assholes.. and people that are amazing LOL

I have met some incredibly kind and thoughtful people. Overall I would just say good, good people.

I'm an OK person, IRL or in the Pit. But I'm no peacenick. I choose not to censor myself, which at some point will get me banned. But that's okay... If I get banned it won't make me mad.

...sometimes I get the feeling that unless you agree with everyone else, you will get in trouble. If you even provide a whisper of dissent, you will (or at least I will) get in a fight. Whatev.

I met a lot of people at Wembley, last Monday, and they were all good. They all post here, too.

Piss off, homey. I've provided more than one dissenting voice that did not get a good reaction, because I was the first person to provide that dissent. In at least three cases on the Moving Train (okay, three cases) I was the first person in the thread to disagree with the thread starter, and of course if you do not agree with the thread starter, u are an troll.

That's completely untrue. I've disagreed with plenty of thread starters. It's all in your approach. If you come across like a know-it-all asshole with a bad attitude or like you're stirring up shit just because you like the sight of your own words on the screen (I'm not saying you do, I'm not familiar with your posts so I wouldn't know) then yeah, people will say you're trolling, because you are.

I've met some of the coolest people from here; and from all different countries. There are always a few bad apples, but I have been lucky in that I've never met one. :)

I'm sorry you feel that way but I couldn't disagree more. Most thread starters, especially on Moving Train, have an agenda. Be it Liberal, Libertarian, or Conservative, many OP's deliver their opinions so they can find others with like opinions.

Usually, these threads are a channel to congregate with other Libertarians, Cons, Mods, etc.

    seriously?

wanna hold hands and skip around a camp fire and sing koom by yah?

whatever, i disagree with lots of people here on just about everything but consider them friends...i come here to discuss stuff...if you are scared or uncomfortable around passionate debate, and lack the ability to separate opinion from personal empathy, why not find your way to the swingset...

nothing personal, but this was probably one of the most pathetic threads i've ever read...:) grow a spine my friend.
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days

when you get a guy like biffy in here trying to stir shit up...I have no problem calling him a dick because...well...he's a dick. Much like most message board bad asses, he probably got picked on as a kid, lives with his mommy, and generally hates his life. I'll play along and stoke the fire with a douche like that.

I don't know about an "agenda," not sure what you mean by that. Certainly most people here have strong opinions and aren't shy about stating them, but it would be pretty hard to have a politics forum without people like that, don't you think?

Interesting that you think you can read the minds of the posters and know what their purpose was for posting.

There are Liberals that want to talk to other Liberals... it's not uncommo. Yet you can deny that there are people who refuse to hear dissent.

We are not going to ever agree on this. Poo.

I don't know why anyone would post their opinion on a message board if they didn't want to hear dissent. I mean, if you don't want to hear dissent, that's pretty easy to accomplish ... just keep your opinions to yourself.

Maybe there are people like that here ... if so, they are pretty silly people.
