Anti-PC Thread

I don't know about the rest of you, but sometimes the whole PC thing makes me wanna gag. I understand being respectful of people, etc. But sometimes I just wanna go Sarah Silverman on someone, ya know? (LOVE her show, btw.)

So in that vein, I dedicate her Love Song to this thread and to the periodic, ill-advised, strangely satisfying anti-PC mood that hits me from time to time.

Love Song
by Sarah Silverman

I love you more than bears love honey
I love you more than Jews love money
I love you more than Asians are good at math
I love you even if you're not hip
I love you even if black people don't tip

(I'm sure there's more, but that's all I've got for now.)

Feel free to add your own sentiments/lyrics/rants. Only ONE RULE: NO CRITICIZING each other for venting. This thread is meant as a rude, crude, ignorant and socially unacceptable vent, and let's remember that it's ALL IN FUN. :)

I love you all, even those I despise. Kiss Kiss.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States, Barack Obama."

"Obama's main opponent in this election on November 4th (was) not John McCain, it (was) ignorance."~Michael Moore

There's a difference between respect and political correctness... a HUGE one! I mean apparently a guy can't tell a work colleague her new hair looks nice... for fear of it being sexual harassment. Certain towns can't celebrate Christmas for fear of offending other religions... who have NO problems celebrating their own religious holidays  do ya think that's alright? And not even going that far, if you can't take a joke or something that wasn't INTENDED (intention IS the key) as an insult, that's your own problem.

Looks good on paper. Hell, even potato agrees with you.
I didn't say anything about respecting a person, Helen. I said respecting feelings of others. Who gives a shit if you "intended" it to be a joke. Oftentimes this will come after an assinine remark is made. Oh, sooorrrry...I was joking. Can't you take a joke?
It has always been quite fashionable to be anti-pc. I am not fashionable.
I walk this planet in a kind, friendly, intelligent fashion. Not to rile people up with antiquated stereotpes.

honestly, I say this time and time again but I'm starting to think it may be an Irish thing... over here if you say something with a hint of sarcasm and a glint in your eye, if someone takes it personally well they're just fucking nuts. It really is THAT simple. Yet the anti-pc brigade have turned up here too and that's really not gonna go down well here. It's one thing we've always had, the ability to make fun of ourselves... once we lose that, if the economy goes downhill again we're fucked. it's nothing to do with fashionable or not... it's just the way it IS. And there's very few people in real life who I manage to rile so if you think from this that I walk around calling people names all the time, you're wrong. i think you're just not seeing the difference that I referred to in my last post. Do YOU stop celebrating Christmas for fear of offending your Jewish neighbours? Would YOU be offended if someone commented on your new haircut?

you know helen, i understand where youre coming from just as i understand where trix is coming from. but in my experience being white affords me more than a little 'arrogance' than i am comfortable with. having irish heritage i am well aware, even as a white person, how vindictive and prejudicial people can be.
calling people names( why do yuo do that anyway?) may be okay if you call them a bastard. but if you call them a black bastard, that's where the offense begins. even if you were joking. surely you can understand that, yeah?

who's saying anything about calling anyone a black bastard? I said I DON'T walk around calling people names... I'm actually quite polite :D but I can make fun of people and I can take them making fun of me. If somebody's overly offensive they won't be someone I hang around with so I wouldn't be making fun of them anyway.

See I don't see myself as 'white', I'm Irish and we've had our fair share of being put down and we've taken it and given it back and rose above... and did it all joking. If you get defensive you're never gonna get anywhere... you can't go around telling people what they can and can't say or do. We've seen from certain threads in this place that once you START that, the line gets pretty fucking far away and people start making their own interpretations of what's PC and what's not so NOBODY knows what to say. It's all bullshit if you ask me and you're never gonna convince me otherwise.

My Jewish friends come over every year to help decorate the tree and watch the Charlie Brown Christmas episode, actually. lol
They don't give a shit about things like that.
PC was put in place to discourage not the novice picker-oner like yourself, but the person that goes overboard and grabs his secretary's breast or the asshole that hangs a noose from a tree. Or the cop that pulls over a black kid driving a car in the wrong side of town, just because.
Or the child at school that feels alienated because he celebrates neither Christmas nor Easter or even birthdays because his parents are Jehovah's Witnesses.
