she's a liar, and her career is over anyway, so it a big deal to retire. She knew what she was doing, others, including her ex husband underoath, and Conti from Balco said she knew exactly what she was taking. I have no sympathy for her, she still saying she didn't need them, her ability and work ethic made her the best...NOT! The roids are the difference between not making the olympic team and winning medals"Music, for me, was fucking heroin." eV (nothing Ed has said is more true for me personally than this quote)

Heheh.
So classy that she might be screwing her relay teammates out of medals.
She might have fessed up in a dignified way, but she only did because she was caught. Kinda like when someone caught having an affair apologizes and comes clean... if she never got caught, there would be no speech about how concerned she was about her family. My whole life

Ok. Now hand back every medal she's ever won. And have her jump on some computer to wipe out every single win she's had from the records.
If she can do that, THEN she's really contrite.Binary solo..0000001000001111000011100 -

Man, they knew she was taking steroids at the time, I remember see all the hoola about it. The question is, why is she admitting NOW? Why all of a sudden, seven years after the fact? Are the Feds persecuting her in another way to get her to apologize, because that apology totally didn't seem natural. Something else is up, as always.0

and when one is faced with irrefutable evidence, what the hell else can they do but bite the bullet and come clean?
I agree with everything Catefrances has said in her posts. We saw Marion Jones getting two of her gold medals at the Sydney Olympics. Australian's fell in love with her, she was portrayed as the new wonder woman. 2000 Sydney Olympics was known for her 'supreme dominance and taking home 5 gold medals'. The kids at school though she was so great and were sending her those 'hero faxes' 24 7 (other aussies will know what i mean).
Now it turns out she was just a fake and a cheat. So what if she has to hand back her medals, pity she doesn't have to pay back all the money she made as a result of sponsorship and appearances since she became so famous.0 -
Cheaters... they never feel bad until they're caught.

If anyone thinks Marion is confessing for any other reason other than she got caught is naive. They busted her, she needed to come clean, and the best way to do so is with a face full of tears. Americans love it when stars admit guilt, accept responsibility, and seek redemption (probably because it rarely happens). But she's only 'fessing up because she has no choice. And was it really a full confession? She blamed it on ignorance. Flaxseed oil? As someone else said, if it was a true confession, she should've also stated she's handing back ALL of her medals.
Anyways, I dont think there's any money left to be paid back. Shes flat broke, lost everything, nada....
I dont feel bad for her. I feel bad for her teammates in the relays who may also have to forfeit their medals. But what's sad is, how can you not be suspicious of them? Sports like track and field and cycling, it seems like its the norm to use where the motto is "cheaters always win."0 -
she did wrong, but I dont think she should go to prison....that would be harsh, too harsh.0

This is how I feel...
She cheated... was busted... LIED TO INVESTIGATORS... got busted for LYING... faced CRIMINAL CHARGES that may lead to JAIL TIME...
...
THEN... she tearfully confesses.

No doubt... and she could probably pop your head like a loose grape with her buttocks.

The greatest shame in all of this... she probably didn't need to use the steroids. She had great natural abilities and might have been able to still achieve greatness without them... how badly did she beat her rivals?Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

There are no more cheaters in track/field and cycling than any other sport. It is just that the others don't get caught because there is not an aggressive enforcer. Heck, who in professional football wants the players to stop doping? How about baseball?
In cycling, the riders must notify their national cycling association of their whereabouts every day! Whether it is cycling season or not. The reason is the drug checkers (vampires as they are called), must be able to find them on any day at any time so they can draw blood and collect pee (without notification). That way the cyclists can't even train doped. No other sport in the world demands that of their players. That is why cycling takes so much heat. They are the only ones getting caught. The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way it treats its animals. Ghandi0 -
