a word of advice: if you want to get something accomplished, do it through solid, intellectual arguments. not senseless, immature, half-baked online petitions that don't mean shit.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I HATE Bush's politics, but completly agree with you.

This may not be the best petition out there.
I was in the midst of searching for the arrest warrant issued by Germany (I believe), for Bush couple of years ago since somebody questioned the validity of that warrant in another post. I came across this one, found it somewhat compelling on first read, so I posted it. There are others out there. In any case I'm still looking for the news article that reports of the warrant issued against Bush by a European country.

Something "happened" for you? And part of what happens centers on a typo? What an asshole. If you need "mockery" to make you feel bettter about yourself, then don't try to do it at my expense. You will lose.

Actually, I've made fun of other people's typos before, too.
The thing is, none of the people replying to the citizens's petition gives any credit to the guy for at least trying. In a less fearful world, it's exactly this kind of thing that can get things done.

Whoa, seriously? There could be better petitions out there? Ones that weren't written by half-cocked batshit-insane grammar school dropouts? I'd doubt that. This is almost as harmful as it is ridiculous; another "protest" that paints the opposition to President Bush as a bunch of wack-jobs.

It's not whacko to think the Bush admin has been involved in criminal activities. I don't think this petition will change anything but sometimes these things are good to share if only to show there are others out there who are fucking fed up, as well. All forms of expression and protest won't be equal in articulation, obviously. I mean just look here, some of the right wingers here should be extremely embarassing to the right...they paint the right like war loving, greedy, self serving nitwits. But hey, you guys usually all stick together.

This seems to insinuate that I'm a "right-winger" or, worse, a supporter of President Bush. That couldn't be further from the truth. I am, however, tired of the silliness of some of the president's loudest detractors. David Cross calling the president "fuckface" doesn't help anything. Hollywood blowhards don't help anything. This half-cocked petition doesn't help anything. I'm tired of the president's colossal failures being overshadowed by nit-picking lunatics.
-Bill Hicks
I don't know what you are but you obviously like everything all proper with no room varying degrees of expression. Boring. I think fuckface works pretty well...it's humorous. Relax just a tad....calling Bush a fuckface, or even this petition isn't hurting anything. What bad is going to come of it?? If someone is that fickle to decide where they stand because of such trival instances then who needs them anyways? People have to get their frustrations out somehow and chances are they're not all going to be brilliant and also they're not going to run it by you for approval either. So I see no need to waste time worrying about it.

I didn't say otherwise. My point was ridiculous and less conventional expression happens from boths sides. I was showing that this petition getting posted by 'anti bush folks' is the same as my example of 'you guys' sticking together.

I think so. It's ok.

KidCarnivore does have a point I agree with in "I'm tired of the president's colossal failures being overshadowed by nit-picking lunatics." I disagree that petitions like these are part of that problem, and those nitpickers who are overshadowing the failures mainly reside in office in Washington, DC.

I agree. These petitions aren't part of the problem. These petitions are so irrelevant it would take a miracle to elevate them to the level of "problem".
I also agree that Bush is a problem, but there's nothing much we can do at this point except ride out the storm.
Why do you suppose that is?

I'm afraid people are far more interested in clicking on pictures of Britney's shaved head (or shaved whatever), than they are in engaging in any meaningful activity online. And if a petition is up for a year and only garners a couple of hundred signatures, it doesn't make a particularly compelling statement.
It is compelling in it's legal content, as is the content of the Irishman's Ed Horgan's warrant of 2005.
For the people who do take the time to read the petition, do you think fear plays a factor in the decision not to sign? I do. I think fear plays a heavier hand than any sort of semblence of justice in this country at this point and time.
How do we change that?
