I agree. I personally would prefer that a woman pursue other alternatives other than abortion but I don't believe that my opinion should govern her actions.

No, we can't all agree on that.

I do. And some anti-choice people do. But some don't. And that won't change.

    Very true..

but don't be silly... everyone can't agree on this, but it would indeed be a good start.

I am pro choice and against abortion.

    Nope.

Everyone is pro-choice. That's a convenient term for the pro-abortion, pro-baby killing side to help them sleep at night.

i want to know why you're against abortion. I know why people are pro-choice, but what is it about abortion that you don't like?

apparently, we cannot agree about this very basic concept. hence, the 16-pages-and-growing thread i started just two days ago.

and "pro-life" is an silly name, imo, since it implies that anyone who doesn't support picketing clinics and harassing the women visiting them is "pro-death".

:) That seems a silly question.

I like people. I feel an obligation to care about and protect everyone. I believe the child/fetus/whateveryouwanttocallit should be cared for and protected just like everyone and everything else. It is a sad day when life is lost.

    sad but true...

back in day, when I was pro-babby killun' I had the hardest time sleeping...I'd wake up at night, worrying about all those babbies I was responsible for killun because I felt it was a women's right to choose what she does with her body...

now that I've reframed my mindset...I've been sleeping like a babby...

I personally don't like anything about abortion. I would only ever suggest it in times where the pregnancy is a risk to the mother's life or in cases of incest, rap, etc. With that being said that is my opinion and my opinion or belief should never be force upon another human being. As long as a viable human life is not being hurt then legally I can not oppose it.

So you can't be against something and not be for legislating against it?

And I thought from your past posts that you seemed pretty libertarian...

People really respect the opinions of those that resort to name calling.

I'll take it a step further, they support the choice to do something that nobody likes?

Yeah - I can be against something personally and not be for legislating against it, but not when I think that babies are being murdered.

(but you're right, I do have a lot of libertarian leanings)

Your dealing with some people who think if your Muslim you are going to take them out while blowing yourself up. Once you have your yellow tag on you, you are what they want you to be.

Because so many women who are prochoice have had abortions to back the statement up. How else would they come to that, if there were no crossroads in the way.
You've changed your place in this world!
  • I can agree that i love the hell out of strawberry cheesecake.
  • What I don't get is Conservatives are against Welfare, SCHIP, and Abortion etc. But people having kids before they are ready or have money to care for the kid causes a lot of new Welfare cases.

I would like to hear a Conservative tell me how they would solve the problem of poor people getting knocked up and not being able to afford the kid but are forced to have it because abortion is banned. This is the scenerio that leads to babies being left in a dumpster. How do they propose these kids to get the care they need?

Sometimes, emphasis on sometimes, its takes more compassion and humanity get an abortion then to bring another lost soul in this world.

But the fact that I have great family support and a stable job means I would never consider abortion an option if my girl got knocked up, but I am pro choice.

wow what a post..i bet if you could somehow present this question to a candidate running that is against these programs and pro choice you could actually get the sleazebag to say adoption is the alternative.

imagine.. a candidate saying the ok way to do it is to give your child away!
