    I 2nd that notion.

If he wanted to stimulate real growth he should have got control of the housing mess before it started and let people like me who make $65 grand a year be able to afford a house. This country is in the wrong hands and it's going to take forever to fix.

All I know is we have less than a year before this moron is out of office.

    I'll take the money.

You should. It is already yours. They took a bunch from you. Now they're giving a little back.

I figured it was a concept that eluded you. You seem to think that the government is paying us something. It is your own money you refuse to take back (although it appears you may be waffling now). I don't care what you do either way, but I'm always glad to reclaim some of what's been taken from me.

ok like alot of people on here i have been a tax payer since i was 15 years old and have paid my dues as a taxpayer all these years and when the government tries and saves the economy i am more than happy to take a refund since i have paid my dues over the years...now why the government is doing this is a whole other story to talk about, but i have ONE HUGE PROBLEM WITH THIS...

they are giving the same refunds to PEOPLE WHO DONT PAY TAXES!!!

the republicans had to cave into this in order to get this thing passed and in return the democrats had to take cuts in raises on the amounts on food stamps that are given out and so forth...so who got the better end of this deal? i think its pretty obvious

there is no way, whether we are trying to avoid a recession or not that someone who doesnt pay taxes should get a refund at all

    Accurate, too!

All of this is moot for me though, since I don't qualify, but in principle I see nothing wrong with accepting what is mine.

Stimulus package: What's in and out

By The Associated Press1 hour, 31 minutes ago

Congressional leaders have reached a deal with the White house on a bipartisan economic stimulus package that is expected to move swiftly through Congress and give most tax filers rebates of $600 to $1,200.

    WHAT'S IN

_Tax rebates: Checks of at least $300 for almost everyone earning a paycheck, including low-income earners who make too little to pay income taxes, so long as they earned at least $3,000 in 2007. Families with children would receive an additional $300 per child, while those paying income taxes could receive higher rebates. The full rebate would be limited to individuals earning $75,000 or less and couples with incomes of $150,000 or less, but a partial rebate would go to individuals earning up to $87,000 and couples earning up to $174,000. The caps are higher for people with children.

_Business tax write-offs: Spurring business investments with so-called bonus depreciation and more generous expensing rules.

_Housing rescue: Raising the limit on Federal Housing Administration loans from $362,000 to $725,000. Boosting the cap on loans that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac can buy from $417,000 to $725,000.

    WHAT'S OUT

_Permanent tax cuts: Republicans conceded that their top priority would have to be left out.

_Unemployment insurance: Democrats wanted to extend benefits past 26 weeks.

_Food stamps: A boost for benefits.

_Medicaid: Democrats gave up on including Medicaid payments to states.

_Low-income heating subsidies: Democrats are surrendering the fight to include them.

_Infrastructure spending: Spending on transportation or repair projects already under way is off the table.

_Republicans' proposal to allow businesses suffering losses now to reclaim taxes previously paid was dropped.
