Colin Powell would have won had he decided to run. I would've been happy to contribute that to victory.

Me too...but that was before he did the okey doke for Bush. I couldn't vote for him with a clear conscience anymore. even though he got off of that joyride...he still lied to the UN, and it was his credibility that got us into Iraq.

I agree, but none of that is because he is black!

there will always be "voting booth racism" Meaning that people will say "sure I'll vote for a black president, or a gay president" etc. but when those same people are in the voting booth and are by themselves you better believe they won't vote for them.

Harvard did a study on this subject some years back...let me see if i can find a link.

    Would I? Yes.

But since you mention no specific candidate, it is either "yes I would" or "I would never vote for a black candidate."

Someone can't say no right now because of "politics and style" when the question is this general.

So how can you say "Yes meaning you like his politics and style" when we don't have a person in mind.

Doubtful that anyone will actually say "no."

THAT is a very good point. Its the reverse in a way to when a candidate goes around espousing racist views and everyone says how bad it is, but then goes and votes for him or her in secret, in the voting booth. I often suspect that is the case anyway.
