Why would she be done when so many are voting for her in the primaries?

After last night and now loaning her campaign $6.2 million dollars---yes, we can stick a fork in her.

McGovern, former Clinton backer, urges her to drop out

By DENNIS GALE, Associated Press Writer 23 minutes ago

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Former Sen. George McGovern, who backed Hillary Rodham Clinton, is urging her to drop out of the Democratic presidential race.

McGovern said Wednesday he has decided to endorse Barack Obama.

After watching the returns from the North Carolina and Indiana primaries Tuesday night, McGovern says it's virtually impossible for Clinton to win the nomination.

McGovern says he is calling former President Clinton to tell him of the decision and adds that he remains close friends with the Clintons.

Its truly unbelievable. There is almost no way she can, and the longer she campaigns, the worse it is for the Democrats. Basically she's a selfish bitch.

I actually don't have a problem with her riding it out. Would I like to see her drop out so Obama can win states like KY and WV, yes---but that won't happen so soon.

All I care about is that she calls off the dogs. Run a clean race, ride it out so you can go out on top if you want---but drop this Florida and Michigan nonsense and start bringing this party back together like a former first family should always work to do.

there is a strong likelihood that limbaugh's 'operation chaos' was the only reason indiana was so close anyway.

its fucked up. this is a slap in the face to anyone who believes this country has any semblance of democracy.

I'm not sure if Limbaugh can be credited with 2% of the vote, but I'm sure he will spin it that he did.

Yeah, as much as the ditto-heads yap about patriotism and loving this country, using a vote (that so many people fought so hard to gain), just for the intent of trying to cause havoc in a primary, doesn't sit well with me.

Someone on MSNBC last night posited that it would actually be better for the party at this point if she stays in. The reason being that Obama's going to lose WV and KY no matter what, and it would look bad if he lost against a candidate that dropped out. That what we're likely to see is a more positive, less aggressive Clinton for the next few weeks, followed by her dropping out after Obama wins Oregon. Made sense to me.
  • I think at this point they are still going, in the hopes that some juicy news will come out about Obama that will be so bad he'll have to quit. Like someone will find a photo of him with another woman like the Gary Hart case back in the 1988 election.

    Yeah, a big fat Pitchfork.

I'm sure Hillary is tasting some sour grapes with this. You know she has had a huge sense of entitlement to the Democratic nod since 2004.

I'd still vote for her over McBush though.

Until she is out, I am fearing all sorts of accidents, or Wright-like incidents.
She wanted the presidency enough to gamble the lives of thousands of young americans, so I don't put anything beneath her.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

It will be quickly obvious if she is going down this road.... with the debt they are carrying, and the HUGE overhead that her campaign has, people will be let go or jump ship almost immediately.

The were also comments last night that I heard about the Obama camp taking on some of Hilary's debt if she drops out and campaigns for him.

Since I really don't know alot about US elections how exactly does all that debt work and how does it get paid back? I mean if she drops out today, who pays off the debt? Is she allowed to keep fund raising and asking for donations? Does the Democratic party pay it? Does Bill write a check with his book money?

To be honest, I really don't know. Today she loaned more money to her campaign, so I guess that she would just lose out on that money if the campaign shuts down.

I've wondered about where the money goes after elections too... if the loser's campaign still has money in the bank, where does that go?

Oh I didn't realize this was her loaning money to her campaign, I thought it was like bank loans or loans from other people or something. I would think if she quits then she is pretty much screwed as far as the money goes, unless she runs again in 4 years and pays herself back? Maybe?

As far as what they do if they have money, I asked this on another board, and I think someone said you can either give it back, donate it to the national party, or save it in a trust for your next campaign (like for the presidency again or the senate or something).

What's the total that she's loaned her campaign??? It's north of $10 million now, isn't it???

If she is going to stretch it that long, it's going to have to be a VERY lean campaign. I can't see her having much success fund-raising at this point.

  • rumor is she wont drop out until Obama takes on her debt.

At this point even if Florida and Michigan were allowed to count, she would still lose. She really doesnt have a leg to stand on any more.
