Ok, they were hired to patrol streets... But how is this being:
"...is permitted to operate domestically in secret and without public accountability."?
They obviously aren't their secretly if they wear their company ID, and if one of them committed a crime, I'm pretty sure there would be public outcry and charges would be filed.
I think the police are well on their way to becoming militarized. More than people realize.
What exactly do you mean by "militarized"?

A hardening of the police force so to speak. I guess a lot of people are happy to see it happen. I suppose they need harder edged cops on the streets in the US to handle people. It strikes me as somewhat unusual at first glance.
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

don't be such a finger pointing drama queen.
It's a shame you quite often prioritize contempt for various individuals over the issue itself.
bizarre..

and what's the actually issue we are talking about here?
If you don't know by reading through the thread ???

yea, I read and posted in this thread. whats the issue?
That you are willing to discuss?
good question.

I suspect you think blackwater training local law enforcement is a bad thing. why this is even a remote concern to you is beyond me. but carry on. maybe post so more garbage you dont read. thats always fun.
You've already dismissed the situation. So what exactly are you talking about?
wierd..

Ok I'll reply to this one then. I did't realize you were busy constructing an insult to add to the end of it.
nice, thanks.

It would be nice to see some semblance of a sense of humor in your personality occasionally. That's the one thing I find you are lacking in. You do make attempts from time to time but it seems contrived.

I don't think that's true... police are getting trained a lot better these days, and if anything cops are much more closely watched now then ever.
For the most part, the old days of locking a suspect in a room and beating then into a confession are long gone.

I suppose it depends on what kind of training the police are receiving. Sad sign of the times when one is needed to train the other I suppose. I hope there's some kind of public discount going on in light of.

Minimum of 8 years of active US military experience (National Guard & reserve time does not count) and qualified in Special Operations Forces (Navy: SEAL, Army: Special Forces, Ranger, Marine: Force Recon, Air Force CCT, PJ)
they bring years of experience to the table. they seem like a perfect fit to train young rookie civilian police force.
seriously, what don't you understand?
The fact that Blackwater is accused, and likely guilty, of atrocious acts in Iraq is a perfect reason not to use them to train young rookie police forces. The rule of law does not apply to their operations, and if they train forces to be above the law it will be a huge step towards a police state here at home.
Kind of like the CIA torture manual stating the practices found inside the manual are highly illegal...but they handed that book out all over the place and allow the torture of human beings.
Have you lived in a vacuum for the last 5 years? The days of locking a suspect in a room and beating them into a confession have just begun...
Abu Garhib? Guantanamo?
He was talking about police in this country... not what we've done abroad with no legal system in place.

Iraq is a warzone, fucked up shit happened, and if found guilty, those individuals will go to jail. preferable in an Iraqi prison where they belong.

little overboard here dont ya think? different game when you have americans training americans in america. we're all on the same team over here.

All on the same team? Are you so sure about that, and confident that if things turned ugly and there was popular revolt the government wouldn't detain, murder or torture the people involved? Wouldn't it be convenient if they had people in place, trained and willing to follow through with orders to kill, torture and detain fellow Americans?
When did military industrial complex and it's increasing effects on our lives become conspiracy theory?

So you have no problem with a private security firm showing up in an American city (uninvited by the government officially) and running around with automatic weapons and the belief they have the right to use lethal force on the city's streets as a whim ? You are an idiot if you think this is ok.
