yes, good idea if there is only one person working. if there are two people then that dude should bring his friend over ;)

Well, he is facing a potential life sentence...that should give comfort to some people in America.

If there was ever a petty/borderline crime combined with extreme over reaction this would probably be it.

I wonder what color the terror/paranoia level was at that day?

He is not getting a life sentence for stealing a doughnut.

He is eligible for the maximum penalty due to his history of crime.

Had he not comitted any prior crimes, he wouldnt have even been facing any charges..everything would have been dropped.

However, his past speaks for itself.

But that being said, he wont serve 30 years for stealing a doughnut and thinking he will is silly.

He should think twice about stealing anything though.......he will have to pay the consequences...whether he steals a car, a TV, a doughnut, or a ham sandwich.

For a .52 doughnut and his history...he should have looked around on the ground for two quarters.....or gone to a soup kitchen.

His history is one of your basic petty crime clepto. People have gotten far less sentencing for far more violent crimes (even murder).

Then again he was going to murder a donut...that's pretty insidious in itself

I know, its kinda crazy. But it kinda reminds me of that scene in "Liar, Liar", where Jim Carrey's client is on the phone requesting legal advice, and Jim Carrey screams, "Quit breaking the law, asshole!!"

Ever been in a lengthy situation here you had no money on you, and you're starving?

    Try it sometime.

Let me know what you think about when you walk by a hotdog vendor, or a bakery.

I have actually, I did pretty well getting some edible stuff from the trash. Can't say I accosted anyone or went in to a convience store and stole anything hell for that matter I wouldn't have stolen a doughnut or if I was starving It sure as hell wouldn't have been 1 doughnut.

This is not the mark of a starving man. It's the mark of a d bag cleptomaniac. I could care less what his punishment is, but it sure as hell is not going to be 30 years, and I'd be shocked if the assault charge sticks unless he's a jackass to the judge. I'm going with probation, but he'll probably violate that too, because he dosen't seem like he's very intelligent or resourceful.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

It would appear that he is not very smart or resourceful. What follows afterwards along those lines is pretty much to be expected.

Officials say it's not about the donut....so are they then saying that you can get a proposed life sentence for pushing someone out of your way in America?

    Interesting.

The audacity of the sentence is more incredible than the guy, the donut, and the donut store put together.

  • you can and should get a life sentence if you push someone while commiting a crime and they fall over and die. And thats why this guy won't get 30 years. thats what sentencing guidelines are for.

I wonder what a 2 donut sentence is?

    edit:

Why not lock people up on some some misdemeanor charge for 15-30 years? You know how many hours of labor that gets you at 35 cents an hour? And what if the state were to then sell this cheap labor off to private companies?

Some people could get really rich just for locking citizens up on petty crimes.

Privatized jails in America splitting at the seams?

    hmm...
