I won't be there (I'll be recovering from my trip to Europe), but my daughter informs me that she'll be there with a busload of classmates :)

That's just absolutely ridiculous. Talk about blatant police harassment.

It was a press conference ffs.

It's no biggie, I'd rather make a stand, a statement that what this administration is doing must come to an end. Besides this march is in my backyard and I MUST represent.

As for the Keys they're not going anywhere unless some massive hurricane hits, I'll be in South Florida from December to June next year working. I'm sure I'll take a drive and hang out there for as long as I want.

Cindy Sheehan responds to William Kristol's campaign against the Sept. 15
March on Washington, where he calls to"Kill the Die-In"

Mr. Kristol calls on the "honorable" members of the anti-war movement to denounce the die-in and lumps MoveOn.org with other organizers of the die-in. MoveOn is not associated with the die-in as they do not support non-violent, direct civil disobedience. What I find so amusing is that Mr. PNAC-Fox News-Chicken-hawk has made himself the judge of what is honorable.

if there is a local ordinance against putting up signs, then it's not a police state action, the fine itself is rediculous though.

You don't need signs anyway, use blogs, and other internet tools to get the word out, try and use local and national news to get the word out.

By the sounds of it, the posters are legal if you use a glue that makes it easily removed...I could be wrong, but that's how the protestors justify it (while being arrested of course)...also, if you watch some of the related youtube links, there are news stories showing the posters surrounded by other posters...and the point is made that whoever put up the other posters was not arrested or harassed.

Notice how someone happens to be running a lawn mower in the park right next to the press conference while they're trying to speak (start of the video). Probably a coincidence...but a convenient one.

Seeing that horse come flying in, for absolutely no reason made me pretty angry...kudos to the protesters for keeping their cool.

They'll try anything to keep the protestors away. There's a ruling that the glue has to be water based and this case they were using the water base glue. Here in DC a couple weeks ago the Capital police or someone in authority threatened to fine ANSWER protest org. $10,000 if they didn't take down their signs.

The volunteers refused and so far nothing has come of it. I'll be there this Saturday.

yes, there are other links on youtube interviewing the ANSWER people and they show a stack of fines that total $10k...such blatant harassment.

Good on ya for planning to attend, esp if you cancelled a vacation for it. Make your voice heard!

I'm amazed at how much this type stuff has happened the last 5 years, the Republican convention, any Bush speaking rally/engagement, even Laura Bush speaking engagements...

I'm just hearing about this march, the website seems to have something related to the march back to AUG 6th, but it doesn't seem that the word has gotten out very well.

Marches in the U S seem to be too troublesome for citizens these days. Not enough people willing to sacrifice for what they believe, or at least what they think they believe.

It's not going away any time soon. You might want to park in the garage, and put up a big electrified barb wire fence.

This will also help keep the boogey man out!

Why should the guy have to park his car in the garage or do anything different to his house? If people are going to protest they should just stick with that. No need to trash other people's property.

I'm betting he doesn't like protesters in his neighborhood period. Or within 100 feet. Now if his house and care were damaged...sure. But chances are he's just bitching..

I don't really give a shit where they are at. It's the spray paint and broken windows that those "peaceful protesters" like to leave behind that make them worthless wastes of air.

How do you know it's these "peaceful protesters" spray painting and break windows? Did you actually see them doing this kind of vandalism. I'm down all the time protesting and I've never vandalized or scene anyone doing such activities and if I did I would tell THAT'S not cool, THAT'S not why we're here for.

Then you get people like you bunching protesters in one group as you call it a worthless waste of air. Video tape next time or call the police if and when this occurs they'll be plenty down there this Saturday even some on horseback. Oh you want them they would leave some horse dung behind and I'm sure you wouldn't be happy with that outcome.

I hope I'll get to meet you just to see what we could talk about.

I'm sure most of the participants are fine people. Large groups like that are bound to attract plenty of assholes though which is who I was referring to as worthless.

I can't really always watch my car since I have to park on the street and that sometimes could be a few blocks away. Those windows get expensive though.

The only reason I know that the people I see spray painting in the area are associating themselves with protests is because they are carrying signs through the neighborhood and yelling obscenities. I know it's my fault for living there but I just haven't moved yet.

I can understand your plight living in DC. I work several blocks from the Vice Prez Naval Obseratory home and parking can be a nightmare in the city.

Well let's hope all of us will be on our best behavior tomorrow and let our protest be heard cause if we fuck up and cause trouble that will certainly be the high light of the news.
