We just had an election here in Canada 37 days over and done, Your campaigning and election has been going on for what 3 years? What a joke! And it appears that he who spends the most gets elected. I'll take our Prime Minister over whoever you elect any day, as a matter of fact I would take the leader of the 2 main opposition parties any day over Obama or McCain. Can't you find a candidate with a little more substance and less BS.

Look at the influence your president has on the world compared to ours. Now doesn't it seem fitting that ours spend more time campaigning?

Less BS and more substance? I'm quickly giving up hope with America. I wonder why they build such bad cars. Plastic, breaks down. Why? they have the ability too build better things. They are able to send people to the moon.

Look at the fast foods. All that High fructose corn syrup, where is the quality?
    -

I think things will change only when the people really demand change. Not just settle.

Americans started to stop buying domestic cars, now GM and whatever are starting to increase quality. As long as the people still vote for the same kinds of dems and republicans, the low grade quality of the candidates will remain the same.

well then it's awesome for you that you live in canada and not the states! :)

our system is far, far, far from perfect...would never suggest otherwise. campaign reform gets discussed ad nauseum, haven't seen many results just yet though.

however, beyond that.....i am excited to vote in a presidential election for the first time in a LONG time and truly believe if elected obama can do some good for our country and for the world. differing perspectives. :)

I too feel the same as you.. this is my first election I am voting for someone I REALLY believe in.. not just someone to make sure the other side did not win. I really, truly believe that Obama will be a nice refreshing change for this country.

I think the 24 hour news channels here in the states makes it outrageously long because of their 1 1/2 years of nonstop coverage of the election, including the primaries. Canada will have the same problem when you guys grow up all big and get your own major news networks.

    OBAMA!

My good friend from this board, scb, sent me Obama earrings for my birthday.

    They're cool.

    I love them.

    I'm wearing them now!

    Thanks, scb!!! You're awesome! :)

    :p

seriously though, i would LOVE to see universal healthcare come into being for our country in my lifetime. however, i far prefer to call it what it IS, 'universal coverage for all'.....and NOT 'free healthcare'....b/c as the adage goes, there's no such thing as a free lunch. it ain't free, it's just in our taxes and well will have it, access for life, forever. ahhhhh...refreshing. i love the ideals of personal freedom in the US, but yea, things like healthcare for all, etc....i DO think universal access thru taxation/goverment is the way to go. how can one truly be *free* if they constantly have to worry about a basic necessity such as healthcare?

    sorry for the tangent....:)

We have 24 hour news networks. But the thing is when your election campaign is only 30-40 days long you really only have enough time to talk about the issues, the platforms and the promises. There is not enough time to spend weeks talking about things like what kind of lapel pin the candidate has, or what his wife wears, or what a preacher he is acquainted with said one time.

It’s the media that turns it into a circus. I could see why the OP would feel like that.

We don't have a president, we have a prime minister, even though the almighty Obama think we have s president, and if you mean sticking your nose in everybody's business as influence, then so be it.

    I totally agree with this.

I hope that the many that are still wondering who to vote for sit in front of their TVs tonight and listen and decide what they really want for their country.

  • Three years campaigning?

Try educating yourself on a subject before you bash it, you ignoramus.
  • Sorry.. I disagree with you.. Obama has alot of substance and he will be a great leader for this country.

Why? Because he's charismatic, handsome, well-spoken, and full of buzzword promises?

Obama will suck, albeit slightly less than McCain will.
