If Republicans maintain control of Congress...

Republicans, Democrats... does anyone really believe it'll matter? I'm guessing that it'll be the same old bullshit I have seen in government since forever and the same bickering and finger pointing will continue.

Also, please note for future reference... the terrorist plot that gets all of the details figures out and all of the plans and participants put into motion and is executed 5 years from now... is not the fault of the President in office in 2011. It is the result of the decisions and actions of the President in office in 2006.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

evenkat wrote:I suggest you watch the 'Hacking Democracy' documentary on HBO. This documentary began at the time of the election and not months or years later. The voting machines may have several chips but they showed inconsistencies in the vote counts when they ran them against each other...they didn't match. As for Diebold, they insisted their machines couldn't be hacked but the documentary proved otherwise...they actually changed the results of a test vote using a Diebold machine right in front of our eyes. Any computer can be hacked even if the computer in not on the internet because all it takes is defective software, which is used to run the vote tallies by the way. If there is a hacker or hacker(s) working for Diebold or any of the electronic voting machine companies, they could decide who will be President. Anyone who has access to the electronic voting machines including the poll workers as well as the manufacturers themselves could decide any election. They could choose a Republican, Democrat or even an independent and there will be no paper trail to track it down. Keep in mind there were problems and inconstancies not only with electing Republicans but also Democrats. The documentary also shows problems with other methods of voting and the mishandling of the results.
I have no problem with using advanced technology, however, there should be a paper trail or some way to check the results of the votes. Now would you trust your money in a bank that doesn't have a paper trail to show the transactions made with your money? We all know computers easily crash, are hacked and get viruses, so why should we solely trust a computer without some kind of a paper trail?
You have to wonder and be suspicious why they wouldn't want a paper trail.
Ummm..perhaps you didn't read what I wrote...the machine I saw HAD A PAPER TRAIL...and the paper printout is what would be used in the case of a recount.hippiemom = goodness0 -
if the Republicans maintain control of Congress, then the Democrats are done as a party and will become the modern day Whigs.
This is going to happen soon whatever happens tomorrow. The Democratic party is too divided and have been unable to come up with anything to run on other than Republicans suck for two elections in a row now. Wow, what a platform. The problem is...is when Democrats tell you what they think, nobody in their right mind would vote for them. And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days

the ohio election thsi year is probably the safest one. with all the eyes watching, blackwell would be pretty stupid to try to rig the election.
that being said, i voted for strickland and the minimum wage increase. how un-conservative of me!Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0 -

I'm glad I'm not in Ohio anymore...Blackwell scares me but Strickland is an idiot. Couldn't vote for either. As far as voting for a $2/hr raise in the middle wage...well...we'll see.....hippiemom = goodness0 -

we had a minimum wage increase vote here, the problem with ammendment was a risidual increase (with no ratios or information on how the CLI would impact minimum wage) with the CLI...I voted it down for that reason, the ammendment should have been written a lot better."I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity but they've always worked for me." i think the republicans are also struggling though. there's the christian contingent that votes republican primarily on social issues, and there's the old-school conservatives who voted republican becos they disliked big gov democrats. the latter are the ones jumping ship on the republicans right now. both parties are starting to fracture.
the thing is, the parties do not have set ideologies, they have coalitions. the democrats were the party of slavery and dominated the south until the 1960's or so. now they're the party of minorities. the republicans used to be more isolationist and the dems were pro-war and intervention, until lbj caught huge backlash. that's when nixon stepped in and the parties almost seemed to switch positions. i think we're seeing a realignment in american politics. im not sure how it will shake out. but neither the republicans nor the democrats are going away. they're just starting to realize they need new coalitions to sruvive.0 -

Absolutely right. I just created a post about the Democrats needing to be smarter and more inclusive in another thread. But the Republicans are starting to fall into the same trap. The fundies have taken over control of the party, and the traditional economic conservative, small government Republicans are completely alienated by them. The fundies aren't concerned with small government, limited federal powers, reduced spending. The Republicans need to tell the fundies to fuck themselves, and get back to what the party stood for (until about 20 years ago when the Robertson faction took over) if they hope to remain a dominate party."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." Talk about a pre-emptive strike
That's only because you KNOW it will happen. That's an easy one to predict.
...
And YES... the current decisions and actions set into motion the events of the future. Like Russia's Non-Aggression Pact with Hitler led to Germany's blitzkrieg on Poland and Chamberlain's Appeasment Act led to the German bombing raids on London... you can't blame that one on Churchill, can you? Or the Cruise Missile attacks on the al Qaeda Terrorist camps in Afghanistan on Clinton's watch that solidified Bin Laden's resolve to attack us on our soil, right?
I'm pretty much for taking personal responsibility for actions... I place blame where it lies... not where I want it to be.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

No conspiracy. Dems pick up about 10 in the House and the Senate remains about the same (within 1 of current). That's my call.
republicans are so delusionalLet's not be negative now. Thumper has spoken0
