Would you be convinced the polls were rigged? Or would you think it was a fair fight?

I'd wouldn't think it was rigged. It would just further show the attitude of America and the value of dishonest politics.

Bush won in 2004.. by then it was obvious what he was.. He was what America wanted.. and I don't see how much has changed.

they could tell us they rigged the election....hell.. they could cancell all future elections, and tell us it was keeping us safe, then tell us that those who want elections when they are clearly a danger to our safety are with the terrorists. and many people....even many people on this board would go right along with it......

The repubs could win straight up, the dems could say it was fixed, the dems could bitch and bitch until finally taking power despite the true results, they could say they are taking the power to bring ethics back to the Congress...all the while they are only stealing the election themselves...and many people, including many here on the board, would not only go along with it, they will be celebrating it. ;)

I still think they're going to lose it, but who knows. I'm still 17 so i'll have to watch this one from the sidelines.

And when (not if, when), the GOP maintains the majority in BOTH houses, it will be for the same reason. People are unhappy, but not unhappy enough to get out and make a statement.

No conspiracy. Dems pick up about 10 in the House and the Senate remains about the same (within 1 of current). That's my call.

i try to be realistic, not partisan...though i do generally fall on the side of the left.

don't be stubborn with your projections...if the repubs hold onto the senate, given the political climate, that's a win for them. no need to go as far as you have.
the dems get the house fairly easy...with at least 18 seats picked-up.

No, after watching 'Hacking Democracy' on HBO I would think the elections were rigged.

Expect more craziness and chaos from Ohio. Just in the past month, there have been several court hearings, several rule changes regarding what kinds of ID will be acceptable at the polls. Just last week there was finally an agreement on identification for absentee voters, even though most absentee voters mailed their ballots quite a while ago.

The latest fiasco is that my county tested the Diebold scanners they use to tally the absentee vote ... and I know you'll have a hard time believing this, but they don't work! Inaccurate counts every time. Record numbers of people have voted absentee because they don't trust the Diebold electronic voting machines, and now this! They're probably going to have to hand-count the absentee votes, and that's going to take a while.

Anyway, as to your question, the democrats in the major races are so far ahead in the polls here that if they don't win, there won't be a doubt in my mind that either cheating or incompetence was the reason.

Saw on the news..in Iowa...a report from Columbus Ohio regarding the new machines to tally votes. Man did that look easy. Also, votes stored in 3 different chips (redundancy), not hooked up in anyway to the outside world (hacker protections) and it stored a paper tally of all the votes...again redundancy.

If they are really using the machines that I saw, I think it is a pretty damn good system really. I can't wait till we get past this age...the age of 'I was cheated'...where no one...across the globe...will face up to the reality of the situation and the fact that they got beat.

The only one i've ever bitched about was when some guy won the presidency when he lost the popular vote.... if we count a popular vote why do we even have electoral votes?

So snakey politicians can slip past having the country vote more than 49% for him...

I suggest you watch the 'Hacking Democracy' documentary on HBO. This documentary began at the time of the election and not months or years later. The voting machines may have several chips but they showed inconsistencies in the vote counts when they ran them against each other...they didn't match. As for Diebold, they insisted their machines couldn't be hacked but the documentary proved otherwise...they actually changed the results of a test vote using a Diebold machine right in front of our eyes. Any computer can be hacked even if the computer in not on the internet because all it takes is defective software, which is used to run the vote tallies by the way. If there is a hacker or hacker(s) working for Diebold or any of the electronic voting machine companies, they could decide who will be President. Anyone who has access to the electronic voting machines including the poll workers as well as the manufacturers themselves could decide any election. They could choose a Republican, Democrat or even an independent and there will be no paper trail to track it down. Keep in mind there were problems and inconstancies not only with electing Republicans but also Democrats. The documentary also shows problems with other methods of voting and the mishandling of the results.

I have no problem with using advanced technology, however, there should be a paper trail or some way to check the results of the votes. Now would you trust your money in a bank that doesn't have a paper trail to show the transactions made with your money? We all know computers easily crash, are hacked and get viruses, so why should we solely trust a computer without some kind of a paper trail?

You have to wonder and be suspicious why they wouldn't want a paper trail.

    good post.

    Do we deserve this corruption?

    Do we deserve this scandal?

That administration lied to get us into war - who could tell the truth?

That administration lied to get themselves elected - how many campaign promises were believed that took our votes?

How many counts of treason do the voters deserve?
How many innocent soldiers deserved to die for this administration?

We were duped - it isn't fair, and if the apathy in this quoted post gains popularity we're only going to get fooled again.

Exactly...People who would say that the election was fixed if the Republicans maintain control have not really looked at that many polls. Also, generic polls are worthless and say nothing about who people are actually voting for.

Republicans, Democrats... does anyone really believe it'll matter? I'm guessing that it'll be the same old bullshit I have seen in government since forever and the same bickering and finger pointing will continue.
    ...
Also, please note for future reference... the terrorist plot that gets all of the details figures out and all of the plans and participants put into motion and is executed 5 years from now... is not the fault of the President in office in 2011. It is the result of the decisions and actions of the President in office in 2006.

Ummm..perhaps you didn't read what I wrote...the machine I saw HAD A PAPER TRAIL...and the paper printout is what would be used in the case of a recount.

if the Republicans maintain control of Congress, then the Democrats are done as a party and will become the modern day Whigs.

This is going to happen soon whatever happens tomorrow. The Democratic party is too divided and have been unable to come up with anything to run on other than Republicans suck for two elections in a row now. Wow, what a platform. The problem is...is when Democrats tell you what they think, nobody in their right mind would vote for them.

the bigger problem is that the democratic party has zero leadership and can't run a campaign for shit. Most people who vote dem. today seem to take the "If I had a real alternative I wouldn't vote democratic" stance, so it's a pretty fair assumption that the party is on it's way out. (hopefully..)

the ohio election thsi year is probably the safest one. with all the eyes watching, blackwell would be pretty stupid to try to rig the election.

that being said, i voted for strickland and the minimum wage increase. how un-conservative of me! :D

I'm glad I'm not in Ohio anymore...Blackwell scares me but Strickland is an idiot. Couldn't vote for either. As far as voting for a $2/hr raise in the middle wage...well...we'll see.....

we had a minimum wage increase vote here, the problem with ammendment was a risidual increase (with no ratios or information on how the CLI would impact minimum wage) with the CLI...I voted it down for that reason, the ammendment should have been written a lot better.
