Obama, Hillary, and McCain were all on WWE RAW a few months ago. It's interesting to see how much the candidates are reaching out through pop culture media. Even WWE...something that's normally looked down upon, was utilized in the campaign. Now, I'm not a fan of Palin, in the least, but her going on SNL is a great way to reach a huge demographic.

I'll tell you the one I don't get, Obama paying to have his name in Video games.
And Palin raised the roof well. Gal's got good rhythm and can field dress a moose.

I think that was mistake #589734246 by the McCain campaign.
The only part I saw (so far) was the clips shown on CNN, and I agree with you based on the little I saw. I plan to find the rest of it on hulu hopefully, to see if that's still the case once I see the rest.

Here's the opening sketch in full: http://www.mediahangout.blogspot.com/
I think this was another massive mistake in a campaign that has made an artform of it.

She (and every other political figure who's appeared on SNL) is supposed to seem clueless. That's the point of the parody and of the "real" person making an appearance. See Mark Walhberg?
And I don't care about it making her likable to me; I'm not voting for her. But it was a good gig and I can give credit where credit is due.

Meh. I've only seen the opening sketch, but she stood there and delivered her lines. She showed up. But that was her mistake. It's one thing for a politician to do that once in office, or even early in the game. But at this late stage for her to turn up and essentially play into the very real concerns as to what she's even doing in this position in the first place, well- it does nothing to prove otherwise. Show me one other politician running for any high position who stood by and got burned like Palin was by Baldwin.
That was truely a "gotcha" moment and she was too clueless to not take part.

The left is so full of blind hatred.
Ha. I loooooove irony. Well done!!

Right. Why are whites racist when they vote against Obama, but 99% of blacks voting for Obama is not racist at all? You are blind, and completely hypocritical.
Anyway, even when Palin is on SNL making a joke, the left comes out firing with hatred. It is obvious to anyway that the left is so consumed with hate. Can't you take a break and laugh? I knew Alec Baldwin was mocking her to her face, and so did she, but you know what, it was still funny. If it turns you into a rage, you have issues.
It was funny and it illustrates what a joke she is as a candidate. End of.
Funny how right wingers accuse the left of being angry. Maybe it would have something to do with eight years of fear tactics and the stripping of civil liberties by the right. Anyone on the left who isn't angry, damn well should be. But yeah, the right wingers would love for us to just sit back, relax, and go for the ride.

I don't think saying that someone is out of her mind implies hatred......

This is kind of getting frustrating.
YES, Whites not voting for Obama for being black is racist.
YES, Blacks voting for Obama for being black is racist.
However, you should check some normal election demographics. Kerry got over 88% of of the black vote last election.
Most blacks vote for the DEMOCRAT... not just because he's black.
And he who forgets, will be destined to remember...
I think you're in the wrong thread. We're talking about SNL here. There must be another thread where the trolling would actually fit in.
Your post is right on regarding the last 8 years..
Palin was ok.. I was mildly amused.. she can keep a beat.. she "raised the roof" fine.. I do have to say it was a little odd to see her do these things, but hey I had a chuckle.. I do think it was WAY over hyped. I think if the word had not gotten out that she was going to be there.. somehow putting this anticipation into it ~ it could have actually been better if you were just tuning in for the show.. not expecting her to show up at some point in it.
Having said that ~ Amy Poehler is a homegirl ~ WORD! She kicked it!

We will have to agree to disagree on this one - but there is no need to name call. We just see it different.
The best parodies are when candidates mock themselves - it comes off self-effacing and it does make them more likable. I've seen Obama, McCain and Biden do it well on different entertainment porgram. It shows their sense of humor.
This didn't show her as funny. The only line Sara had was when she said she wasn't going to answer any questions and I didn't find that too funny - maybe because I really think that is a pretty serious thing that she is not talking to reporters.
The rest of the time - she was mocked and took it, imho making her look dumb. Her big zinger was telling Alex that she preferred his brother - but that was pretty soft after he called her horrible.
I'll say she was a good sport - managed to smile through it effectively -memorised her lines well (just like the debates) - but I don't think it made her more likable. Just another pagent performance.
I've definitely seen a lot more anger coming from the left when discussing the opposition than I have from the right. Much of it borders on downright childishness.
