    ROFL!
haahah ... Jlew ... you TRULY sound like a politician now.

Answer this one question for me:
Can you justify the ONE BILLION DOLLAR Embassy that we are building right on the river in downtown Baghdad?
    20 buildings
    104 acres
    5000+ employees
    $1,000,000,000 price tag ... repeat ... $1,000,000,000 -- BILLION
6 times larger than UN HQ in NYC ...

The UN, for cooperative WORLD government needs 1\6th of what we need to build in the capital of a ONCE sovering country ... and for what purpose? WORLD cooperative governance? NO! NATIONAL POLITICAL SELF-INTEREST! it is OUR national embassy ... THEIR country ...

    JUSTIFY IT!

::sits back, in quiet disbelief of what is about to come::
[expecting something along the lines of "well we fucked up SO BIG, that it HAS to be SO BIG!" ... come one ... you were thinking it]
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

i agree that is a disgusting story. the person(s) responsible for that are just pure evil. just like the psycho who went on a rampage and killed 32 people in the vtech massacare, just like the psycho martin bryant who killed 35 people in a country where i used to live. they are just sick. i could quote many examples of disgusting things like that.

i can see where you are coming from byrnzie, and it's a shitty story. 7 kids. no excuses for that. none.

my point is, no doubt there are some crazy fucked up people in the US military (just like there are elsewhere), but you can't look at it as the 'norm', and think that is how the majority are. someone recently posted a website that had lots of thoughts and quotes from returning soldiers from iraq. it was heartbreaking. there are good people over there too.

True. My comment was a bit of a broad sweep. Of course it's stupid of me to say 'America has become...' But you kind of get my drift. I suppose I was trying to say that American institutions - in this case the military, justice departments e.t.c. (as an extension of the current climate of right wing war mongering) have become a fucking disgrace.
This particular case - Haditha - stinks to high heaven of hypocrisy and mendacity.

whats really disgusting is the amount of hatred you spew on a daily basis now. where is your hatred for China?

they are almost 100% responsible for the death in Myanmar AND Darfur. you make me sick. you really do.

That's right. I am filled with hatred for the pigs in power who can - for instance - claim that to slaughter an entire family in cold blood is tantamount to 'negligence'. The utter cynicism of these nazis makes me sick to my stomach. The fact that when I post something related to a specific incident, and concerning a specific country, I don't include my revulsion for every other injustice in the world, is completely irrelevant. It makes me sick that you will always jump to the defence of every example of American injustice in the world. You make it sound like America is the victim here. Just like Israel is a victim, right?
It really is pathetic. You're just trying to deflect from the issue at hand, and it's quite apparent that you couldn't give a fuck about anyone's lives in this world if they don't happen to be white Americans.

    I don't think he's that cold.

Jlew keeps those "All-American" reflexes real sharp, but lately I think he's shown he does stop and think befoe he posts now and again.

    Maybe not in this instance.

I post an article concerning a blatent injustice committed by the U.S military and legal system, therefore I must obviously want to see America nuked.
This post of yours really exemplifies how we are worlds apart Jlew.

he doesnt live in America either. blanketing "America" and disgusting isn't something I'm going to sit back and agree with just because a few rogue soldiers made some mistakes.

I may aswell be American, as much as it pains me to say it. I'm British afterall, remember? We are all but the 51st state in the eyes of many in our beloved, and subservient government.
Would the Haditha massacre have been brushed under the carpet and regarded as an act of 'negligence' if it had been committed by British forces? Probably. There have already been numerous examples of atrocities by British forces being covered up. It seems to be the standard procedure.

    Or that instance.

    heheh.

You're all not "worlds" apart, though. You each just sound different, er, when you post your words.

its war. fucked up shit happens in war. I'm not defending these soldiers. if they killed innocent civillians they should be tried for it.

My post wasn't aimed specifically at the soldiers on the ground. It was aimed at the system of 'justice' which is abusing it's status by attempting to exonerate them.
Just like the massacre at My lai in Vietnam, it's the kids on the ground being blamed. I think those a bit higher up the chain of command should be held responsible. Bush and Rumsfeld e.t.c need to be tried for war crimes.
Remember that the core of the 60's anti-Vietnam movement was composed of vets. It wasn't the soldiers being condemned for what happened over there, but the masters of war sitting comfortably in places of power.

i can agree that America has done some disgraceful and some positive things. Can you agree that Kanada has done virtually every disgraceful thing America has done or been complicite with America in them?

Seriously i'm just trying to figure out where people stand here.

Are you all just America haters or do you recognize the fact that pretty much every country on Earth that has existed for more than 200 years and has had any degree of power has done the same things? Do any of you recognize the fact that when 90% of foreigners come on here to relentlessly bash the US some AMericans that actually love their home nation are going to defend it and point out good things there country is responsible for as well as point out bad things your country is responsible for?

I don't hate America. Not at all. If I hated the place - in the widest possible sense of the word 'America' (which, incidentally, I feel would be absurd) - then I wouldn't care to criticize it's mistakes, and it's crimes. Perhaps I'd regard it the same way I regard China, for example - I'e, I wouldn't pay it much attention.
I have a lot of admiration for a very many things in 'America'.
But at this moment in time, and especially with regard to the subject at hand, America is a fucking disgrace.
