    Non-issue.

    Still.
  • Wright is about as relevant in this election or even this world, as spinbret is to PJ or this board.

    Like previous poster said, it's a non-issue.

I think the band actually likes me...thats if they read this forum. Anyways, do you want a president that has a spiritual advisor that says all this crap?

I've said many times that I think Wright makes some very valid points in his 'controversial' statements. baahhhh baaahhhh spinbrett. I think your shephard is calling you.

Guilt by association. Is this the best you can do?

For the record I would prefer a president without a spiritual advisor.

How about you actually address policy issues likely to have some effect on your life.

Jesus was black, Ronald Reagan is the devil, and the government is lying about 9/11!

dont let these children bother you spin. keep up the good work. I find it amazing that so many around here choose to ignore wright. the guy is a racist prick who obama embraced as family for 20 years. yea, non-issue.

i don't think wright is of his right mind these days. i think he's got a personal vendetta against obama. besides, if either of you attend church, you know that there are times when the priest/pastor/whatever says stuff that you disagree with, but that doesn't change your mind about the faith. if it does, your faith was on pretty shaky ground to begin with, imo. and if you're not religious at all, or never have been, then that might explain why you don't understand the dynamic between a churchgoer and his/her church. it's not a place you go to be spoon-fed ideas about the world. you need to find your own way to god, regardless of the opinions of any pastor.

regardless, obama & wright are two different, separate people and i'm not voting for wright for president. therefore, it IS a non-issue.

You know, when the Israeli army decides it's bombing season and there's uproar on the pit, we suddenly get an influx of Zionist extremists making reasonable debate impossible. They don't contribute much to the other forums, or if they do they display a lack of interest, let alone knowledge, of Pearl Jam. If they're not banned they vanish as suddenly as they arrived. Now, it's election time, and we've got a couple of obsessive anti-Obama posters. These people must be on a wage. Personally, I'd rather clean toilets for a living. With my tongue.

Spinbrett is right. Rev. Wright says all sorts of crazy shit...like talking snakes tempting a nude man and woman...and a 80 year old man building an arc by himself big enough so he can collect one of each sex of land species...

    good point....

if Obama would have simply of waited and embraced him to gain a few votes, everything would be ok...

if obama wasn't a VERY close friend of his for 20+years and just waited until now to grab an endorsement for a few votes, yea no big deal. sadly, thats very far from the case.

I don't know about you, but I know some pretty "nutty" people who have some fairly radical views...and I've known them for years, yet, I still maintain contact...but that's just me...

with that said, I don't seek to cozy up to folks with radical views to gain favors...again, that's just me...

The least surprising thing about racists is that very few actually admit their racism. Rev. Wright never has, as far as I know.

The only people who ADMIT to being racists are people in white sheets. I have friends who are racists, but when I call them out on it it's "I was just joking. That word is funny"

is Obama racist for saying his "grandfather was a typical white person"? or do you subscribe to the theory that only whites can be racist? I'm not at all saying Obama is racist but if Hillary or McCain said someone was a typical black man all hell would break loose.

Isn't it quite possible since they had a 20 year friendship that Obama does believe a lot of what Reverand Wright says? Not saying he does, but isn't it possible? that makes it relevant.

"I hate the gooks. I will hate them as long as I live." - John McCain

    Did all hell break loose?

Truth is, it's not unusual for people - politicians and commentators included - to talk about common attitudes in the black and white communities. It's the word "typical" that people are upset about. If he had said his grandmother's views were common for a white person of the time, there'd be less "outrage."

not true when it comes to blacks. Say anything remotely disparaging against blacks and you are vilified. see Don Imus, see Jimmy the Greek

Jimmy the Greek's comments had more to do with eugenics than culture. And Don Imus's comments, while blown out of proportion, were about making fun of accomplished women athletes based solely on their physical appearance - again, not about culture or attitudes.

But that's beside the point. The point is I hear commentary on black culture and white culture all the time, so it is "true when it comes to blacks." The only problem with Obama's comments was that he used the word "typical" when he should have used a more benign phrase like "common among."
