Well, there is some crazy shit, but the difference is that Romney isn't quite the religious crusader Huck is. Romney was pro-choice and was (probably still is) fairly socially liberal but is currently pandering to the party. Huck is a true believer, a Christian Soldier. That scares me more.

I'm sorry but anyone who thinks huckabee would "wipe the floor" with Clinton is "bat shit crazy", and I can't stand her.

In another thread, someone mentioned that it didn't matter what he 'believed' in as long as he didn't try and push their values on other people. The thing is that religous zealots like Huckabee always do. That they don't accept evolution is simply the first sign of a broader and more dangerous agenda.

So is studying the evolution of AID's resistance or the evolution of antibioitic resistance of tuberculosis unimportant? Politocians such as Huckabee who don't accept science are hardly going to be supportive of important research like this (both in terms of funding and grass roots science education) which is saving peopls lives now. It has a tremendous amount of relevance to Americans.

When candidates put a fairy tale before scientific facts... I'd say that's grounds for concern.

Obviously, I'm using hyperbole here, which is a big word for some stupid hillbilly hick from some inbred trailer park in Texas.

(By the way, slandering someone because of where they happen to reside makes you look silly, unintelligent and close-minded, and more or less cheapens most any argument you might make. I kind of thought you were above that, but I guess not).

The point is, Hill is going to have a very, very difficult time winning the general election. She's too shrill, too corporate, and she's probably been in the Senate too long. Ever wonder why Senators never, ever, ever get elected president anymore? They have records, which are easy to attack. Poor John Kerry never knew what hit him.

Obama might be able to pull it off, because he hasn't been in the Senate for long.

  • Jon Stewart had a funny analogy about this. The Republicans need the Ned Flanders' of the world to come out and vote, but even they don't want President Ned.

That's pretty much true. They want Huckabee supporters to vote for the Republican candidate. They just don't want the Republican candidate to be Huckabee. :)

You know I personally don't care if a person, or an elected official to be more specific, is a devout religious person. A person's belief is a personal matter. Now when an elected official tries to impose there beliefs on the populace that is when problems start.

What Huckabee wants to do borders on Facism. I know plenty on here don't agree, or like him, but Ron Paul stated that Facism would come to this country draped in the American flag taughting religion and that is exactly what Huckabee is.
