has anyone seen in the valley of elah ... the kids being sent over there are coming back fucked up - regardless of whether this video is true or not ... the reality is many are coming back with serious psychological problems from the stress and things they are asked to do and witness ...

I'm a 12 yr active duty army vet, one thing we all need to remember, soldiers are people, humans, from all over the country, and in some cases the world, they come from diverse back grounds, and share our good and bad traits...I saw some hinky shit during peace time in while in the army and over seas, I can only imagine what some asses are doing while serving our country in Iraq. Being a soldiers, or coined a 'hero' doesn't mean some of them aren't some of the worst of us.

Thanks for your service. You're right, there are shit people in every walk of life. I just hope people don't forget that these kids are also capable of great acts of kindness and legitimate heroism.

And, the worst part is, some of it is totally unnecessary. All war is horrendous and nasty, even in what I think most people would agree was the just cause Allied cause of WWII. I don't think I could ever understand what these guys go through on a daily basis. Being a war-time soldier has to be about as tough as it gets. The problems are only just beginning. The soldiers lucky enough to make it out of Iraq alive and without crippling physical injuries will be sent back into "normal" society with scores of mental problems and PTSD. I just hope whomever wins the November election will figure out a way to get enough funding for these kids so they can get the help they will probably need.

  • I saw this on cnn. I became violently ill and let out a similar yelping sound that the innocent puppy made. Only mine resonated within my body and mind, which grew into a session of overwhelming tears and questioning of how could a human being be capable of such disregard for life.
I am shaken to my core. This is a person who is "protecting" me and my fellow citizens. Thanks, but no thanks. He is despicable.
I know there are far worse things that people do to one another, most of which i have been absorbing/suppressing, but I have not seen them with my own eyes. This was the first evidence of pure evil I have witnessed for myself.
To see the soul-less smiling marine wind up as if he were throwing someone out at home plate from the center field wall was extremely disturbing. That puppy's yelps of PURE FEAR will haunt me. I will love my dog and all of the helpless creatures even more and pray for anyone who could even consider a deplorable act such as this.
