I live in Wyoming, and have for all of my 38 years. Wyoming is very hard to read...
Ever heard of Barbara Cubin? 8 times she has been elected to represent us, as our sole Representative. She has the worse voting/attendance record, possibly of all time. Last year her record was even worse that a deceased Rep from another state! I'm not making this up. If I had a few more minutes I would dig up a link, but forgive and believe me. So we are "ok" with some women, but I have never seen people in my area so bitter when it comes to Hillary. They spit her name out like she was the devil incarnate. Is Wyoming tollerant of Barack because of his color...? I would say that Wyomingites are much more tollerant in the polls than they are when they are on stools at the bar, at which times, I would not want to be any minority, whether it be black, hispanic, gay, oil field trash, BYU co-ed,....the list goes on. Please understand that I am only including these as examples, not that I am using them to describe my beliefs in any way.
Peace
Thanks for the info....
I am not or was not trying to hate on Wyoming however I just didn't see it as a place where a black man could be successful.... however it seems that their views of Hillary are similar to a lot of others in the country from big or small communities.
I have always said that with friends people from all walks of life would never admit that they would vote for a black man but once they step into the voting booth they would vote for a black man over a woman....
I am just skeptical of rural communities and their views of minorities I am a white man married to a black woman and we are much more cautious in rural communities than when we are in Chicago....
Absolutely, I agreee with what you say and how it was said. No offence taken here.
Wyomingites are very proud this weekend, and its not because Obama won the caucus. We get all puffed up any time we are even mentioned as one of the lower 48!
It will remain very difficult in the general election to list Wyoming as anything but Republican, regardless of who is running. I was actually surprised by the numbers that did turn out for Saturdays caucus, it leaves some hope, albeit very small.
The entire state has right around 500,000 people, and yes the entire state should be considered rural. Even our two largest cities only have a single community college, and our sole University is in a city of around 10,000. Mathew Shepard was the gay student who was beaten and left tied to a fence in Laramie.
Another ironic note, Cheney "resides" in Wilson, a hamlet outside of Jackson Hole. Jackson Hole has some of the highest real estate values in the US, and is almost completely Democrat.

The general consensus on this board seems to be 'bc that's what everyone else thinks'
