The final warning of an Obama Presidency

I do buy the CD's. I do fly to and attend their shows. That doesnt mean I have to enjoy the political seminar from a very wealthy pack of rock stars, does it?
Or do I have to be a left wing lemming to enjoy their music? The funny part is, I agree with damn near everything they spew. I would probably vote for Stone for president if he ran. The only part I dont agree with is their choice for president, and his FISCAL views. If PJ is so damn intent on supporting free speech, why in the hell are they supporting a regime change that will exert more control over the people of the U.S than in any modern time?
Doesnt anyone understand that Democrats are about bigger and more controlling government? Am I insane?
Under Republican control in both the Executive and Legislative branch our government has expanded more under this administration than any other since FDR. Obama's policies would expand the federal government but so would McCain's."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -
Scuba200ft wrote:On another note, just got my latest email. Why in the hell can't Pearl jam just be about the music? Why do I have to be subjected to endless political BS when I just want to hear their music and receive MUSIC news?
Has anyone actually voted one way or the other because of what some 100 millionaire thinks?
If the answer is yes, you should have your voting privileges revoked.
I get junk mail all the time for viagra, mad's and sorts of crap. Get over it.I can't go the library anymore, everyone STINKS!!0 -

I honestly mean no offense by this, but it is comments like this that make me believe you've had the silver spoon in the mouth your whole life. I just cannot believe that someone who has that simplistic a view of poverty has had to struggle.0 -

Believe it, it's called working your ass off.
No college fund - paid myself with student loans
No trust fund
Old man never baought me crap, not he could
7 hours of tech school a day with a full time job on top to get me by.
I've seen shit and been places you wouldn't dare go. Unless you're in the military or something (thank you).
My car was my first adult home
My second adult home was a 99$/week motel
I busted my ass my whole life to get just a little ahead.
Sorry, I AM the dream.
Now I gotta go fix kitchen cabinet doors for a tenant. One who has 2 kids, no job, deals drugs, and is 100% subsidized by the gub'ment.
If it matters at all.
Glad she'll be getting a check in the mail at least.

A cabinet door is such an emergency that you would leave your family time to go fix? You must be wasting your time on the net during the day. Things like cabinets are usually not after hour jobs.0 -

Good discussion. Just wanted to make a couple quick points.
While it seems oh so practical to roll back the top tax to the Clinton years, we seem to forget that we were in a time of peace then. We simply can't afford to hike taxes for small business right now. Disagree with the war, or parts of it, like most of us do, the facts are the facts (FACT!)
But I'm lookin out for you. I work in Palm Beach County, specializing in single family home construction. And it may be a little slower, but there's no end to the amount of wealth in this area. Rich people will always be able to afford to build a new home, so I'm set. I'm good, I'm experienced, and I'm well enough connected that I'll not worry about this too much. It's only the not so good, the not so experienced or established that are falling.
But to all you newcomers to the workforce, when my business starts making around 230k a year (and it's headed that way even now), and you need a job from me, guess what?
Good luck with your job search.
Now some family time.
You are even more pathetic than I thought you were...."Without the album covers, where do you clean your pot?" - EV0 -

Um..hate to break it to you, but that is what the Democrats and liberals want. When Obama talks about wealth distribution and the Constitution, that is what the Dems want to hear. It is unfortunate, but we are just going to have be outnumbered and deal with the consequences of liberal rule for 8+ years.

So because of a small minority of abusers we should scrap the whole system. There are people out there, and plenty of them, who truly need the assistance because they have fallen on hard times and as decent human being we should try as best as we can to help them, especially those of us that are better off.
Just to add to this discussion, during the Clinton years we had sweeping welfare reform that saw a decline in welfare participation. This was again nullified under the Bush administration when welfare participation increased."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -

You talk as if the last 8 years where so great. Yes Obama will be a pretty shitty president but so was Bush. Face it your republicans are no better at running this country than the Democrats. Under the Republicans we saw an unprecidented growth in government spending and size. The good old days of small government fiscal conservative Republicans is long gone my friend. It's time to shove off that dead carcass you call the Republican party and start looking else where because the GOp is one step behind the Democrats when it comes to increased government intrusion and spending."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -
mammasan wrote:I know what he said but take a look at the tax plan he is pushing. It is essentially the same tax plan pushed by Clinton in 1993. The man fucked up and used the redistribution of wealth line a few times but if you look past that and at his plan you would see that that is not the case. As I stated I don't like his plan and I don't like McCain's plan either but if you look at the two plans Obama's is better.0

I might be stupid but this (as the "spending argument") just flows over my head. Are you completely blinded by your preconcieved ideas on what a republican or a democrat is or did you not see what happened in the las 8 years? I don't know what Obama will do or if he will be a good president but, after 6 years of patriot act and massive intrusion into people's lives (phone tapping) how can you even say "a regime change that will exert more control over the people of the U.S than in any modern time"? That makes absolutely no sense. Please explain this to me. And if anyone can also explain how the next president (wether it's McCain or Obama) will manage to spend more than Bush did because looking at it, I don't even think it's possible.0 -
gvn2fly74 wrote:Maybe it is but there was not 700,billion bail out when are you people gonna wake up.Too many people are voting based on emotion and not using common sense.Obama is going to raise taxes on everybody just like Clinton
I agree. Eventually he will have to raise taxes across the board in order to pay for his programs, but at some point we have to pay for all of this. We have to pay for the massive deficit or are we just going to keep passing the buck to the next generation. I don't like taxes or excessive government spending. I would much rather our federal government start trimming itself down significantly, pay down our deficit and then reduce taxes across all income levels. The problem is that neither party is going to do that, so we are left with a few options. We can elect members from 3rd parties who will accomplish this or we can pick the lesser of two evils. In my opinion Obama's tax plan, as presented to us, is the lesser of two evils. That does mean that I agree with him or support his plan, or even plan on voting for him. I'm just stating how I see it and maybe, as much as I may hate to admit it or hate the idea, raising taxes to pay off the incredible amount of debt we have accumulated may be the best thing we can do."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0
