even fox news reported it. but in all seriousness, american obesity is a huge problem. no pun intended. I try to stay heathly and eat right, obesity is just plan gross IMO. kids usually dont care whats in front of them at school, they just eat it. luckily Clinton is helping kids eat right, this is a great first step. hopefully parents follow through with a good diner.

    Good indeed.

I am sure some people will be upset in reading this because fighting obesity begins at home through learning good eating/exercise habits. And that is true. Nevertheless, schools need to not be enablers in the country's ever-growning obesity problem.

"Of course I'm not happy. Look at me, I'm a big fat slob. I've got bigger titties than you do. I've got more chins than a Chinese phonebook. I've not seen my willie in two years, which is long enough to declare it legally dead.

I can't stop eating. I eat because I'm unhappy, and I'm unhappy because I eat. It's a vicious cycle. Now, if you'll excuse me, there's someone I'd like to get in touch with and forgive... myself. "-Fat Bastard

    :p

While it is of course a good idea to give our children good healthy food at school, can't help but wonder how many obese kids have thin, healthy parents. As stated above, the parents have to take the responsibility to feed their children well. One healthy lunch is cancelled out by one dinner at McDonalds washed down with a tub of rocky road.

  • Bill Clinton would be classified by the BMI as overweight and near-obese. Meanwhile, millions of healthy children occassionaly eat a Snickers bar and will now have that choice taken away from them simply because other children cannot control themselves.

If these companies are willingly doing this, so be it. These are their products so it's their choice. But if they're doing this because they know they'll be sued and they know they'll lose, shame on Clinton and his thug cronies.

anything that has as it's goal children eating healthier, exercising, controlling their consumption....all good things. it IS a horrific problem in this country, children and adults alike...but it is even more shameful that we allow our children to develop these bad habits, and all will suffer b/c of it. so kudos to any/all who diligently work towards reversing these trends.

Well, it's one thing to encourage healthy eating and healthy living. But I would be careful about how much you condemn a person for being obese.

They might be an endomorph and their bodies simply produce fat tissue more than muscle tissue. For these people it's almost impossible to look fit. The same goes for ectomorphs that look like they are anarexic, which I've heard so many people laugh at. Their bodies don't easily produce fat or muscle tissue, so they look like skeletons.

    The ENDOMORPH

The body of the extreme endomorph is round and soft. The physique presents the illusion that much of the mass has been concentrated in the abdominal area. This may or may not be true. The arms and legs of the extreme endomorph are short in length and taper. This may give the appearance of stalkiness. The hands and feet of the endomorph are comparatively small, and the upper arms and thighs are often more developed than the lower parts of the arms or legs. The body has a high waist.

    Other Traits of the Endomoprh

The skin is soft and smooth, and the hair is fine. The head of the endomorph is spherical. The head is large and the face broad.

    Famous Endomorphs

    John Goodman, Roseanne, Jack Black.

Then why don't you just imprison anyone caught eating over 2,000 calories a day? Better yet, why not just ban personal food purchases and issue MREs to the population?

I know there will be a gap between us since you don;t believe that government schools should exist and that private schools should be able to provide as much or little access to kids as they wish.

Nevertheless, in public schools, I think it is certainly OK to have some nutritional standards as to what kids can and cannot get their hands on.

Nobody is taking away the responsible child's right to eat a snickers--they are not going into the homes on Saturdays and taking the ice cream out of the freezer.

This is the path we are slowly going down. But since Clinton is proposing the idea too many people will accept it with no understanding what it means.

I'm eating a big 'ol bag of lays potato chips today. For lunch I'm going to have a big bucket of fries and gravy. I won't be eating dinner as usual, maybe a bag of popcorn.

I don't work-out and I'm still alive. A bit overweight, but not much. I'll probably die from a blood clot or heart attack, but my eating and exercise habits have very little effect on my physique.

The acceptance has little to do with Clinton. The acceptance is based on the fundamental principle of plans like this: your health is not your responsibility.
  • That "be who you are!" "be true to yourself!" attitude is being applied towards obesity now.

Anyone see Stan Lee's show 'who wants to be a super hero" ?

An obese woman who called herself 'fat momma' and threw donuts at her enemies made it into the final 2.

Being comfortable and proud to be overweight isn't self respect. In fact it's the opposite, it's self-destruction.

Obesity is a terribly unhealthy and disgusting problem and we shouldn't pretend it's something to be tolerated.

The first time someone gets fired for being fat and sues, if he/she wins i'll shoot myself in the leg.

"Yeah you got fired, you weigh 400 pounds, you're disgusting. Your presence grosses people out and you're not trying to do anything about it! You go to McCdonalds for breakfast AND lunch every goddamn day!" ... Once that argument is invalid in court we've lost it.

What exactly is "gross" about obesity?

  • When's the last time any of you dudes have eaten high school lunch? or school lunch for that matter? It's fucking disgusting. Instead of giving contracts out to companies who are going to give you five thousand cardboard sandwiches for two dollars schools need to be given more money to access companies who can prodivde enough food that appeals to childern WHILE keeping the food healthy. At my old high school, two years ago I read something that the school went with the company that they did because they offered the best nutrional value and price. What the fuck. It was pizza that was more greasy than any pizza hut, domino's, papa john's, etc. Cold hamburgers. Taco salads that looked like a baby shat on a plate, cold fires, vegetables that looked like they had been harvested in the days of jesus, a very small carton of milk, lowfat milk, or "chocolate" milk (by chocolate I mean they took a brown crayon, melted, and mixed it into the milk). If you want the kids to stop going to the snack machines, you have to offer them something that isn't going to make them sick. You have to offer food that not only holds up on the nutrional scale but also appeals to the childern and makes them think "Snickers? No way dude, I'm going to get a real lunch". You have to offer something that's going to make the kids want to stay on campus for lunch instead of running to the fastes burger joint. Schools need more money so they can do these types of things.

And a really good marketing campaign that'll blow Snickers out of the water. ;)

None of the schools I attended had food at all. The Cafeteria was just a room with a bunch of tables in it. The only place to get food in the entire schools was the snack machines and pop machines. The water from the fountains was totally disgusting and the nearest restaurant was 15 blocks away. So, if your parents didn't pack you a lunch, you were eating chips and pop. My parents didn't pack me a lunch, well, when I was little they did, but when I was 13 I didn't live with them anymore, so... I ate Raisin Bran and Nachos every day.

Yea, I said a bit overweight, for my body type I should probably be around 165 lbs but I'm around 175 lbs.

Let's look at what you said:

I said overweight, you said "fatass", "fat hairy gut" and "tubby".

First of all, I don't have a fat ass, the majority of my excess fat cells are in my stomach/abdominal region, my gut is only as hairy as genetics dictates which isn't even close to animal-like or a natural amount of hair, and tubby, well that's just a final jab at me.
