I don't care for her either way but I'm disgusted at all these people saying they can't understand our fascination with celebrities... then saying they're delighted she's being put away. If you're NOT in any way fascinated with celebs, how do you know enough about her to know she deserves to be (not talking about locked up, she did the crime and should do the time) raped or stabbed in jail???? And think that's funny? Imagine if she IS stabbed in jail... there'll be millions of people across the world who don't even KNOW her, delighted at the news :cool: doesn't make sense to me apart from being pretty sick really.

I heard on the radio this a.m. that in Greenwich Village in NYC yesterday they had a rally for Paris, in support of her being a victim and all. A total of 3 people showed up.

I hope this wasn't an attack on my point. I would never wish harm upon any human bein, but as you stated, if you do a crime you deserve time. I truly believe you can NOT be fascinated with celebrities lives and still no way too much about their lives simply by owning and watching a television. I don't seek out info about celebrities but you are going to find out anyway simply by flipping channels, (which all men do), and seeing it on a third of the stations, or by word of mouth. Unless you live a sheltered existance, it's pretty unavoidable these days.

To further address my opinions; I have nothing against musicians or actors or anyone really in the spotlight, that comes with the job. I don't mind hearing on the news once in a while about a celebrity coming out with a new album, or staring in a new role. It's not going to ruin my day. I just think that it's just way too much these days. Way too much news about every aspect of their lives. There are just certain things that should just be left alone and not shown to the world, and I think it is sad that the media is fascinated about these things, including the watchers or listeners.

That's really all I have to say about this issue. This is simply my opinion, and I am enjoying reading everyone's thoughts. Thanks everyone.

Well it wasn't really a particular attack on anyone but I read this thread and another one about it on AET and people seem delighted at the idea of her going to prison. I'm not delighted, sure when I first heard I thought it was funny but then when I heard people making jokes about it and saying how they hope she gets raped in there and comes out a lesbian and others saying they hope she's stabbed... just cos she's a celebrity, it's ok to SAY things like that? I don't think so. Do they GENUINELY hope she gets raped or stabbed? I seriously doubt it, so why say it? Sure I think she's a waster and an idiot and it pisses me off seeing so much media devotion to her waste of a life... BUT she still is a life and to laugh at others misfortunes is just slightly sick IMO.

I agree with you totally... although some of them are so hypocritical. As far as I can see, it can be easily done to be a celebrity and stay out of the media. I've never been a celebrity so I don't know how it works BUT we don't see pictures of the aforementioned Scarlett Johannson or Jessica Biel falling into a car knickerless at the end of a night or checking into rehab every two months. In fact I know very little about either of them and yet everything about Paris... and yet it's in little doubt as to who's the most talented and better looking . I don't get it. If you ask me the media's pretty sick inflicting this kinda Hilton/Lohan/Spears behaviour onto young girls who, lets face it, ARE the target audience.

Oh, no, not a fan of hers at all! I have a little sister who is at the age where she can be influenced by all that stuff and it makes me sick to my stomach. Celebrity worship, in general, is something I can't quite wrap my head around since I took down all my River Phoenix posters.
