Do you guys believe this shit!! Pardon my language, but we must truly be the laughing stock of the rest of the world, when celebrities' lives are placed on pedestals and are the most important things going on in the world and are shown on every news channel. I know this is nothing new, but when is this country going to wake up and realize that celebrities are no different than you or I, they just have a different job and more money, and in Paris Hilton's case, doesn't have a job, just money.

I am not going to lie to anyone, I made a horrible mistake in my past and got a DUI. I didn't hurt anyone or myself thank God, but I learned the hard way. Paris Hilton should be treated like anyone else who makes a stupid mistake. I don't believe she is sorry, and I think if our justice system is really going to be fair, she should go to jail. I don't think she should just go for the 45 days but a freakin year. Maybe then she will wake up and realize her shit also stinks and she can't buy or use her so called "fabulousness" to get her out of a jam any longer. If this happens it may even be big enough to teach all of these ignorant "children" out there that she is not a God, but a human bein that also messes up and has to pay for her crimes, just like everyone else does.

I am so sick of our countries obsession with stardom, it's really getting out of control!

Thanks for listening, I needed to vent!! Comments??

I still for the life of me can't figure out why she is a celebrity besides the fact that her family has a gazillion dollars.

I don't agree with but understand the fascination with actors, musicians, athletes, etc., that are put on this celebrity worship pedestal, but I'll never figure out how Paris Hilton got that status.

Anyway, she broke the law repeatedly, and she should serve the sentence that she was given. Now get it off of the freakin' news.

Agreed! Well put! The thing that makes me mad was last night I watched the news for 30 minutes and heard nothing about the Iraq war or any other real issue in the world, it was all issues with different celebrities...it's nuts.

    .

because her family has a gazillion dollars and her body is shaped almost like a twizzler candy.

    These are good things.

i hope Paris Hilton gets "Shanked" in prison.

"Shanked" is when someone in prison is stabbed w/ some kind of make shift knife...usually while in the shower or yard. ( i learned this from the movies....but i hope it happens here...that would be the best!)

Name one redeeming quality of Paris Hilton.

I'm not defending her, I just don't think it's beneficial for me to attack her. she does'nt need any good qualities. she may have some, I don't know, I really don't care. But she has done nothing to hurt me. so why should I show so much anger towards her? and if she get's off the hook for what she did, it's not her fault, she just played the system. the system is at fault and anger should be directed towards it.

and i'm not sure what you mean by "redeeming" quality.

I'm not really attacking her has much as I am attacking the stupidity of this country for idolizing and making her and other celebrities Gods and the most important news. However, I do think some jail time is deserved since she did wrong and may be a wake up call to her sheltered bubble.

It's hardly the same thing. I don't "idolize" Pearl Jam, but I'm sure there are some here who do. At least the guys in Pearl Jam have actually DONE something. They've produced music that's brought us a lot of joy, perhaps inspired us or helped us through hard times. They are active in the community and have raised money and awareness on numerous issues.

What has Paris done? Is she just famous for being famous?

  • Paris Hilton is a media diversionary tactic.

Honestly really think about it. She has no talents, she's not exactly royalty. Her parents own hotels...whopee shit really. Her only claim to fame is acting goofy on a TV show, where she says the same things over and over again.

All they ever show her doing is stupid mundane shit in real life, and pass it off as incredible and interesting.

So why is this tabloid caliber crap filling up the real world news arena?

Are the majority of Americans THAT retarded that all they want to do is hear about this type of thing?

Do 13 year old little boys with Paris hard-ons really have that much buying power?

Maybe some people do. I myself feel that Pearl Jam is my favorite band. I have a lot of respect for their music and their causes and awarness, but they are not and should not be Gods or the most important thing in the news. That's all I am saying. If you are a fan (for whatever reason) of Paris Hilton, fine. I am not against that. I am merely against the worshiping of celebrities and the overly extensive media coverage of their lives. That is all. :)

lol, you complain about the coverage, then go on to talk about the issue.

the only stuff i've seen about it was on nancy grace, and she was giving it attention because there was a chance paris wouldn't go to jail and they were saying how much bullshit that was. there was also a college kid on that started an online......whatever to "free paris now!" that was good for a few laughs.

I see where you are trying to go with your comment, I really don't know Paris and could careless. My only point with this thread was to complain about a few of America's problems, one being making celebrities Gods and the most important news over REAL issues!, and two, in doing so, celebrities are often not treated the same in the judicial system and should be.

Been reading about the paris hilton thing in the news quite a lot recently, would be funny if she got a lengthy sentence.

George Michael was in court the other day and when they asked his plea he said 'i am not guilty'. His lawyer shouted 'NO!, guilty!!!!' before bringing him in close for a quiet word, then George Michael stood up again and said 'Ok, guilty.'

He should be jailed for his stupidity!
People say im paranoid. Well, they dont say it, but i know that's what they are thinking.

personally, i don't look at celebrities as gods and nobody i know does either. i dig a lot of the movies hollywood pumps out, but in a real life setting, these celebrities are out of fucking touch. and paris hilton really shouldn't be given the status of 'celebrity'. she just happens to be lucky enough to be the offspring of a really rich pair of parents.

oh, i just thought of something. i partially take back my first sentence. scarlett johansson is a goddess. yummy.

No, i really don't care. You can form an opinion about someone but that does not mean i care either way. It's simply that. An opinion. I really couldn't care less about her. And based on your logic, it sounds like you care a lot. Maybe you could bake her some cookies and send them to her in jail. She would like that. A gift from the 'little people'.
