I don't like either candidate at all.
Both parties are fucked up. There needs to be more strength in the Green party or something.

Strength is in numbers. If you want to support the Green party then do so. People have to be willing to support things when they are small or less heard of if they want to see them ever gain any ground.

true, but it's easier for most people just to go with the flow.

a wise man, who at one time backed a 3rd party candidate, in a growling voice once mentioned 'herd behavior'.. so there you go.

    Don't you know
    They're talkin' about a revolution
    It sounds like whisper

While they're standing in the welfare lines
Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation
Wasting time in the unemployment lines
Sitting around waiting for a promotion

    And get their share
    Poor people gonna rise up
    And take what's theirs

Exactly, this totally sucks. There really needs to be a new type of party. I guess I consider myself a Liberal Republican but in reality my beliefs are not black and white. In todays world there is way to much gray.

I like a lot of Obama's views so far. If some of the good old boys down South don't mind seeing a black President, then I really like my chances of Obama being my President. The electoral vote in the Northeast, Mid-West and Pacific states won't be enough. He has to win some of the South.

So you agree that Israel should have the unconditional support of the US in their occupation of Palestine, and that jerusalem should be the undivided capital of Israel? What about keeping mercenary armies in Iraq for the next 3-5 years? you like that, too?

He wants an end to the war and have the troops home in the best way possible. He also reduce nuclear facilities here in the U.S. to encourage other nations to reduce theirs as well. He wants a better more peaceful world. :)

I also don't mind his tax raises neither since a huge chunk of it is gonna go to healthcare anyhow.

An end to the war? A more peaceful world? How can someone who wants an end to the war keep mercenary armies present in the occupied country? How can someone who "wants a better more peaceful world" fully support Israel, who is currently brutally occupying Palestine?

sorry, not buying it, and you shouldn't either.

I'm from the South and I'm a democrat (I served as state president of the Alabama Young Democrats from 2002-2004), but Obama is way too far to the left for me. It has nothing to do with his skin color for me, but rather his politics and the bad characters that he has surrounded himself with over the years.

What exactly are you basing this on? Because of all the things I can complain about with Obama, being too far to the left ain't one of them.

He's too far to the left for my taste on most issues. I'm a moderate-centrist Democrat. I feel like he's too out of touch with mainstream America. For true hardcore liberals, he certainly appeals 100%. For me, I prefer a tough macho Democrat like Jim Webb from Virginia or a southern trial lawyer Democrat like John Edwards. I am pro-Universal healthcare, but Obama ironically isn't. Edwards (who I was supporting) and Clinton were the true, pro-Universal healthcare Democrats.

In having said the above, I feel like Obama will win the election even if he doesn't win a single southern state. If he can win the same states that Kerry won in 2004 and add just one more state, such as Ohio, then he's the next president.

What stances of Jim Webb's and even Edwards or Clinton do you prefer that you also don't see in Obama? ...other than healthcare, of course as you mentioned....which ironically enough, Obama is to the right of on that particular issue.

We get it. Anytime anyone disagrees with a person of color it is racism in your mind. Save it, it is weak.

Obama, without argument, is currently the most liberal senator in the country. I'm afraid that if elected (excuse me, when elected) he will be too much of a liberal activist president. I also mentioned that I'm for the most part a moderate democrat. I prefer someone who will be a tough, level-headed commander-in-chief (I'm not comfortable in knowing that Obama will be in charge of our military). I feel like Clinton would have made an excellent commander-in-chief (and to a lesser extent John Edwards), while at the same time she would have implemented very positive domestic policy back home.

yes, but she keeps asking you what makes him the most liberal senator, what actions were these that put him in that category?? or is it just b/c you said so?

or did you mean he votes liberally being that he's missed nearly 1/2 of the senate votes since he's been elected?

You're trying to bait me evidently into something, but I'm not quite sure. Bottomline, like I said in my post above, he's too much of a liberal activist for my taste and his voting record supports that. I'm a moderate, southern democrat and I do not support Obama.

I'm sure those of you who love Obama have wonderful reasons for doing so.... more power to you.

i'm not baiting you into anything other than backing up your words. why so reluctant? you keep saying he's too much of a liberal activist and ppl keep asking what he's done to make him that? his voting record supports that?? which votes?

he always voted to reauthorize the patriot act
he voted to confirm condi rice
or any of the stuff mentioned here

sorry wasn't clear enough...but he wants to work on reducing nuclear missiles and weapons for a Nuclear Free World...
Toward a Nuclear Free World: Obama will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons, and pursue it. Obama will always maintain a strong deterrent as long as nuclear weapons exist. But he will take several steps down the long road toward eliminating nuclear weapons. He will stop the development of new nuclear weapons; work with Russia to take U.S. and Russian ballistic missiles off hair trigger alert; seek dramatic reductions in U.S. and Russian stockpiles of nuclear weapons and material; and set a goal to expand the U.S.-Russian ban on intermediate- range missiles so that the agreement is global.
