If someone said to me... "hey jules, would you like to be black or white?" I would choose white.
Does that make me racist?Oh dear dad
Can you see me now
I am myself
Like you somehow
I'll ride the wave
Where it takes me
I'll hold the pain

Me too.

It's not just black people.0 -

Sounds like Chicago should take notes from Canada.
So, what you are saying is that racism isn't 'widespread' it's just your environment as far as you know.I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. I know this probably happened but i have never heard of any white people accusing a black person of racism against whites. I have however heard hundreds of stories of white on black. It just seems like the race card is the first thing to pop out of the deck on almost any issue when there are differences of opinion. Whites just seem to keep bowing and agreeing with everything. when rodney king got beaten by police and verdicts were not to their liking they rioted in the streets. pummelled an innocent truck driver like barbarians with bricks and destroyed cities. Is that a good reaction to a problem? no but it sure did scare the white folks into changing things up real quick. I believe till this day that is the reason OJ wasn't found guilty. They were afraid of another riot. A few years ago where i live a skinny 7th grade white kid was beaten by 6 black kids on his way home from school and died from it. not once was it ever even brought up that he was beaten because he was white. it didn't become a national story embedded by non stop coverage into all our brains forever. instead it was forgotten. hell if you bring it up to half the people in my town today not many can even remember it happening. Now switch the story around to 6 white kids beat and kill a 7th grade skinny black kid on his way home from school and fucking al sharpton appears from a puff of smoke like a genie. I do have respect for black people for standing up for themselves and their rights but every issue does not have to be a race issue.they call them fingers, but i never see them fing. oh, there they go0

I'd rather be green, but I'd choose black if it came to black or white. See, white is a reflection of light and black is an absorbtion of light. Plants are green because they absorb the right amount of light for photosynthesis. Animals eat green food to get the nutrients out of the plants. Perhaps if we were green we wouldn't need to eat.I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. you remind me of my son. Totally.
and as for racism being widespread... it's a hard call. Our Mayor is trying to even the playing field but people in the suburban bubble see things a certain way.0 -

My environments have been a suburbian bubble... a crack house...a 'normal' city condo and back to suburbia. racism has run rampant in all 3.

I think there is a generation gap. There was an article that came out either yesterday or today talking about the % of interracial relationships these days. White kids from the suburbs definately help make rappers rich by purchasing their records. It is the Sharptons and Jacksons who are out of touch. They grew up with real racism and segregation, so Im sure that is hard to get over. But I certainly feel that the older generations have much more issues regarding race than the younger crowd. What Imus said was stupid, and he deserved to be criticised, and there is certainly still racism in the country. But, I do think it gets blown way out of proportion at times, and there is certainly a double standard and hypocrisy to it at times.0

And what exactly do you consider to be racism?
Apparently there are two running definitions.
One is any deragatory percept or action towards a group of people based on race.
The other is the above plus social dominance. So the idea is that if white people are dominant in the culture then they are the only group that can be racist and everyone else is free to be racist. And some go as far to say that this also means that all white people would be racist by default.
To me definition 2 is racist based on definition 1.
This is getting too complicated. But if you look at a person's actions or words and think "Is he being racist?" you are setting yourself up for perceiving people as racists. Seems to be kind of problem these days. Because anyone who gave people the bennefit of the doubt would easily see that not all white people are racist. I know more people that are prejudice to homosexuals and women than they are to black people.
I mean, what the hell are we going to do about it honestly? What the fuck am I supposed to do? I wish I could help people but I really can't. The problem is in people's minds and it's uncontrollable. You can only identify causes for their thoughts and indoctrination is probably it. If you throw these phrases around like "a lot of white people are racist to blacks" or "all white..." you are teaching youth your percepts that already cause you to feel shitty. Besides, can't you change your environment? What do you like to do dude? Move here. When I was a teenager my environment was fucking me up good, but I moved and found a good place, two of them actually. Either London Ontario or Victoria B.C. are pretty damn diverse. You aren't likely to run into racism in either one. You will still get like the odd people, here I know one small business that only hires white men. But even I called the manager an asshole and quit. I'm sorry, I don't put up with my boss calling me a bitch or dumbfuck or anything like that. I'm actually not gay, but they always called me gay in a deragotory way and said things like "Haha, were you bumfucking so and so you queer?". You don't actually have to be gay or black to feel like shit when people treat you that way. But then you go to a place like Stream Intl. On second st. London ON and you sit next to black, hispanic, gay and transvestite people. The place I work for now had a transvestite, but he quit. The cleaners were Lebonese, but they quit and some Columbian people did it, but they were removed by their company and now we have Albanian women. Security guard was from South America, can't remember where exactly, but he is cool, he studies cognition and artificial intelligence. Sure all the guys at the top are white, german, etc... I hate capitalism too. It's the reason I don't drive a BMW. My daddy wasn't rich either. My grandparents had 7 kids and could barely feed 'em, he worked driving taxi and she dispatched, the kids slept in 2 rooms and my grandparents wouldn't eat unless the kids were full. That might sound kind of familiar it happens to everyone that isn't rich.
Anyway, I just think it has very little to actually do with race in most places. Capitalism hits all of us equally. You can't put me in a group of elites when I can't hardly pay my rent and I live in a shitty apartment in the worst neighborhood in town, with crackheads above me. I can get a job and be shit on for being new, they will call me fags or whatever they can. I even threatened legal action and the guy said "Then I'll start calling you shithead". If I was black, that could have been interpreted as a racial slur, right? It's still offensive though.I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny.
