i don't think it will ever happen. if iran gets the bomb its the great equilizer and will be a deterrent to keep other countries from messing with them.

The U.S Government doesn't need any provocation in order to drag the country into another war. It had no provocation before invading Iraq. It also had no provocation before invading South Vietnam, or before it invaded Panama. It merely invents provocations with which to serve it's expansionist ambitions.

i'd like to believe that too but the way they paraded that uranium around held high like the stanley cup. i think they're gonna be using it as soon as they have the chance.

There was a very funny story I read in National Lampoon 'way back in '72. It was an article about Pakistan, who had just developed their first atomic bomb. It said their neighbors, especially India were worrried, but the U.S. was not, because the only known means of delivery was parcel post.

You seem quite pessimistic. Has it entered your train of thoughts that if Israel was sure for one second that Iran was to "wipe out Israel" they would act preemptively as it seems to be the remedy for everything? Do you think Israel, with the warfare they have, will just stand back and wait for it? If anything your question should be "How long do you think it will be until suspiscion is high enough for Israel/USA/NATO/or anyone not happy with that to bomb some sense into Iran?".
I fail to see why the whole word would just stand back and watch, after all Israel is not the Darfour.

Chances are a not that good that Iran will nuke Israel. Chances are pretty good though, that the US and/or Israel will strike Iran to prevent them from obtaining these weapons.

For all you liberals around here that like to rage against the machince, which would you rather have: The US wielding influence in this region or the Iranian government? Once promotes freedom and capitalism, the other promotes state-sponsored intolerance of all things progressive. Your choice.

And one more thing. Why would a group of leaders such as those in Iran not use the bomb, or at least use their possesion of it to push others around in an attempt to consolidate their influence and power? Oh, that's right - becuase Bush started and illegal war in Iraq.

Sadly enough all 9/11, anti Bush sentiment aside. There is some truth to this, however I think the threat is not based on home soil.

If anyone invaded US soil it would be a hellstorm. And nobody wins the nuke game. So I would say in theory yes...in reality...no.

and let me add something, i've learned that americans were selling weapons to France, England and also to Germany before one of their boat used to bring those weapons to Europe get destroyed. Germans had put a 2 pages warning in the New York Post some days before, telling the americans to not use a particular boat to cross the ocean between. So as they did anyway, they torpilled this last and apparently, this one was truly filled up with weapons and bombs.

Conclusion, If you don't want to get bombed, just get your ass out of problems.

Add: The U.S. has strenghtened Iran's hand in the region while weakening ours. We have accomplished for them (Iran), something the Ayatollah and 8 years of open warfare was unable to do... hand Iraq over to the Shi'ites.
Like it or not... the Iraq war plays into this thing. Bush is responsible for this situation and if you support him and/or his war... you are partially responsible, too.
