Which forums are you talking about, out of interest?

BTW, don't you think its a good thing that knives in public are banned? After all, we have one of the highest knife crime rates in europe. (I'm sure I read somewhere!)

Don't you think that the more the public are allowed to have weapons of any sort, the more crimes there are going to be? Look at America's gun murder rates. I don't understand why americans have the right to bear arms, judging by statistics alone!

Not to look like I'm jumping to Ravenna's defense or anything, but the real relationship isn't that simple with regards to sheer number of guns and crime rates. Rates of gun ownership in some European countries match or surpass rates in the U.S., yet the gun crime rate in this places is actually much lower. It depends more on who owns the guns (criminals vs. law-abiding citizens), and cultural attitudes about violence more generally.

And I hear the US also have a high crime rate - does that make the US disgusting?

And I think the law that you can't carry a knife is directed towards the criminal AND the victim. It's not legal for criminals to carry knives.
