dunkman and g under p, are you guys really brain dead or do you just act the part?

I suppose history really is just a fictional fragment of time to you guys. Go read another Harry Potter novel.

read your own post back... you said you were standing next to Peter the Great... i presume you mean a statue... but it was funny as it read as if you were standing next to him.

    chill out though amigo :)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Somebody start a comedy thread so some of us can laugh and smile the end of the world is not coming any time soon. :)

Funny how people will get their panties all in a twist concerning pins (replicas of the flag)... the flag itself... yet, stand by and obey as our government pisses on the Constitution... the FOUNDATION for which the flag represents.

Isn't it strange how some don't pay more attention to how the Constitution is being torn to shreds. Like one lady said to me during a baseball to take off my hat, I politely turn to her and said "when the government of the United States stops lying to it's citizens I'll gladly remove my hat thank you". I could see for the rest of the game she was thinking about what I said and that I wasn't offended my what she had asked me.

BTW this was at hockey game down in Sunrise Florida.

Well it is, Wednesday. Black hole will swallow the Earth hole.

And yes I was standing next to Peter the Great. I'd post the picture but this site doesn't allow me to.

Scroll towards the bottom on the right and you will see his tomb.

  • 'As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides,' Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might
    salute it.'

Nothing about that quote sounds like Barack Obama. Show me a link to where he is quoted to saying that.

The other thing that bothers me... personally... is the way people will call to pass 'Constitutional Amendments' banning flag burning... but, nothing is done for the War Veterans that come back from Hellfire Shitholes like the Middle East or Viet Nam. We only seem to honor them when they come home in a coffin draped in a flag... not when they make it through with their lives changed.
If we are always linking the Flag to Soldiers that fight beneath it... how about we honor those soldiers as much as the attention we pay to the flag? Go up to a person in uniform or a civilian veteran and thank them. They will hear it better than the flag hears your pledge to it.

the flag is WAY better. it's all colorful... and you don't have to read it... you can just look at it and pop wood... it's awesome. it's like the instant patriotic gratification equivalent of eating a candy bar instead of a well-rounded meal.

    Ha.

I like that the symbols are getting more and more dilluted. We go from the nation, down to the flag which it represents, to little tiny flag pins which symbolize the symbols that are flags. Before too long, we will have little representations of flag pins in the form of stencils on cars or tattoos, etc.

George Carlin said it well: I consider all of these symbols, and I leave symbols to the symbol-minded.

I'm not much into flags or anthems myself. They're just divisive...of course all countries pretty much have them, so the US doesn't hold exclusivity on the divisiveness.
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.
