9 times out of ten the flu shot you receive isn't even the strain that is going around and independent studies suggest that anyone who has had 10 or more flu shots increases their chances of Alzheimer's by tenfold!

mercury is not good for you...now repeat that 100x or until it sinks in.

mercury is not good for you

mercury is not good for you

mercury is not good for you

    Thimerosal is bad for you
Don't lecture me. I know all of that. My comment was purely asking the question of 'do people know what the flu actually is'. I see it all the time, people saying 'i've got the flu'. Uh, no you don't all have the flu, some of you have the common cold.

I'm saying, people talk about having the 'flu'. The flu is not the common cold that makes you feel really unwell for a few days. Some of the strains of the flu kill you.

trust me, he doesn't get just a cold. it's the flu. every year.

hi, i just wanted to add my opinion here, i have 3 kids, one of them has asthma and can't afford to get the flu and the other two are in pre-k and it's mandatory so i have vaccinated all of them, but anyway....i wanted to tell you that pediatricians have the flu shot without mercury. just wanted to let u know that it is available mercury free for children.

I always get my flu shot, but for kids, I've never heard it mentioned. I think parents, on top of everything else, really need to do research to see if it's right for their family. :)

    Is that the inhaled one?

I could have gotten one for free for my son...but i wasn't sure... and also he seemed like he had a little cough that day so i opted not to.

    Thanks for that info though!!!

    GREAT to know! :)

Although I'm still on the fence about it. Just finally got him the last of his "required" vaccines so I could be sure to send him to daycare. All these required vaccines scare the shit out of me. There is all sorts of info that the FDA advisory boards that are requiring all these shots have members on them that are high ranking employees of the very same pharmaceutical companies that are making the vaccines they are requiring our kids to get!!!! This link below appears to have some good info... although i haven't read it too thoroughly...I was looking for another and came upon this one instead....

For those of you who oppose this, could you please explain to me what the difference is between mandating this shot and all the other shots they mandate? Seriously... I'm not sure I completely understand.

For example they require the chicken pox vaccine for all 1st graders in my state. I did not want to give my son the vaccine just because I had read various things that it was not truly effective. In talking to his doctor, he said that Japan had used the vaccine for 30+ years and it he totally recommended it. So I said ok. I gave my son the chicken pox vaccine.

That summer, 6 months later he came down with chicken pox badly he was exposed from another child. What was the point of this vaccine? Why did I even make him go through getting the shot only to come down with it anyways??

A month later, the CDC came out and said now they recommend a booster to the 1st chicken pox shot because of a higher level of kids still getting the virus even after getting vaccinated.

With my younger son I opted out of the chicken pox vaccine. I am going to hope he gets it the old fashion way. Just like I did. My older sister came home from school with it, my mom sat all of us in the same room so we all had it together.

I do not get the flu shot, why would I want my children to get it. I do not believe in it. I am getting more and more freaked out with how many things they want to inject into us. And then I think of their little bodies and what is it really doing to them. I don't know. I still think people should have the choice.

you jeopardized your children s health albeit unknowingly like most parents who ignorantly trust big pharma and the lies about vaccinations...below is a link you should all check out and start educating yourselves about the truth to the dangers of vaccinations.

When I think of the most successful public health measures in human history, two things come to mind, sanitation and vaccinations. As parents, we innately want to protect our children from harm. It can be very difficult these days to differentiate between the pseudo-science and propaganda and scientifically confirmed data. There are a lot of web sites out there that promote deception and sometimes outright lies. I think it is important for all of us to get our information from reputable and expert sources, so we have the correct and scientifically verified information we need to make informed decisions for ourselves and our children. The following are a few sites from reputable organizations such as the CDC, World Health Organization (WHO), American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, & the Institute of Medicine, among others. These sites are a good starting point to get what you need to make informed choices.

If I don't get the flu shot I get the flu and it lasts weeks to months. It's a miserable experience, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I used to work in a childcare and those kids would get sick for a long time, too. The kids would have to get the antibiotics, parents have to take off work because kids are too sick; or they don't take off work, and the kids just infect everyone else. My sister and our friend do not take their kids for vaccinations, and those kids ALWAYS end up with the flu with a couple rounds of antiobiotics in the least as a result. All the time spent with doctors visits, all the time they have to stay home and worry, why didn't they just give their kids the shot? How many times does the flu turn into pneumonia for their children before they realize the flu shot is their best option to combat this annual misery. It's not rocket science.

I don't believe the "well, this vaccine may not work for this particular strain" stuff. I ride public transportation, have easy access to the flu bug, and if I get a flu shot I don't get the flu. Simple preventive medicine, saves money and I don't need to take sick days off. I hated, absolutely hated shots (get scared etc) for most of my life, but I look forward to the flu shot because I can see results.

I agree that although US has other vaccinations, maybe a new mandated one is not the best even though attendance would probably be better for both parents and kids, antibiotics costs would be lower etc etc. However, I think there should be strong messages, and easy access to get a flu shot.

On an annual basis, I usually read a scare about lack of flu vaccine available. When I read that the vaccine is almost out, and many people haven't received the shot I wonder who is in charge and why?

i've never had a flu shot and have never had the flu. same with my wife. same with my mom. same with my kids. one of the guys i work with gets the flu shot every year and guess what...he gets the flu every year.

This doesn't seem possible. Maybe he needs an extended vacation every year. ;) Also, to be kind to him, maybe he doesn't know what the flu is. A lot of people say they have the flu when what they have is a bad cold. If everyone who says they had the flu had the flu, we'd be in a constant pandemic.

it may not seem possible, but i'm not making it up. he's out at least a week and a half every winter. he said the first time it happened he went to the doc and was told he had the flu. then he gets it again the following year and it's the same thing as the year before, so he says it's the flu again. sure, it's possible he's either a) lying, or b) looking for sympathy, but i don't know why he'd do that. doesn't matter to me, anyway. he's not really a friend, just a co-worker. i just wanted to clarify that i'm not making this up, but since i don't live with the dude or hang out with him, i don't really know the entire story.
