wait...for the last Zeitgeist movie, weren't you the one "for" while I was "against"?? :D

I can definitely see a lot going on in our systems that work and why.

Personally, I'm not for overthrowing systems at all. I trust that systems are doing exactly what they are doing for exacting evolutionary purposes all the time. I'm for walking away from what I can no longer support. For me, that our societies are so focused on being ego-driven and money-centred at the expense of being healthy, happy and whole just doesn't work. And I therefore act accordingly. And how that plays out in practical applications is merely along the lines of only aligning with what works for me in each moment, which may even be similar to what you propose with your level-headed evaluation.

Ultimately, any "objective" assessment is an illusion. Any new imposed system from without would be a grave error. It all comes down to how we personally choose in the moment, on all levels, including our intentions and philosophical direction. We're either adaptive or maladaptive. I'm personally always excited to see people moving in healthy directions and proposing win-win situations that do not come at the expense of something/someone else in the whole of it. As we progress, we learn this is the only option.

Personally, I'm not for closing down any system, or imposing controls on anyone, corporations included. As with all things, I support more natural and less authoritarian responses. As long as we continue to support those who abuse the earth, we will reap what we sow. When we've evolved to a point that we no longer sustain the unsustainable, then we'll know we're heading in the right direction.

I very much agree that the greed and other evils we see are not attributable to the monetary system, or even religion, but instead to humans. Its the fact that we deny our own dark side and then project it elsewhere that plays a big role in our perceiving ourselves as separate from the whole, with all that entails, such as hoarding, killing etc.

now THIS we can agree on. :D
    all of it.

And, remember, the first Zeitgeist movie didn't go on some weird socioeconomic-science-fiction space trip at the end. It went on a couple of truth-bending fantasy versions of pre-history, and got some facts wrong about its main assumptions, but in "general" it painted a better picture of reality than the one shown on TV, at any rate.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

and thusly begin moving in such directions, learning and adapting on the path of living nobly and with transcendence, beyond our base animal instincts, all the while acknowledging and embracing such instincts. It's much different than living from the ego and concerns of the self at the expense of the big picture.
when we live from our ego, we begin to compete. when we compete we place expectation on others. when we build a false sense of gratification through any other outside source than music playing in our souls we are lost. we chase greed, it becomes a part of us and makes HUmans ugly...

material value is zilch...nada...nothing...but when we take away ego and send our selves to anyone with pure intent, we really don't have to worry nor be concerned with the economical dimension of society...

if i were to give anyone advice...the only thing i could give is to learn to just be. like passing ships in the night...let go of expectation...all things material do not matter as much as a heart beat or fellow-ship between friends.

even though we should be informed and well schooled, no matter what Uni we choose to study, the rest of it is fodder..

rather than to wish any one to be angry or inflammatory...wish for change...and in this wish, manifest change...

and keep lean... :), then all the rest will fall into place...

off topic but not really...everything is connected...
    all insanity:
    a derivitive of nature.
    nature is god
    god is love
    love is light

I agreed with alot of this video.. very well made and i think most subjects are discussed very fluently and alot of it kind of was like a light bulb. Like maybe we already knew all this but needed it to be formed and laid out in front of our eyes. I swear the first half of the video made me want to go protest at some banks. I'd probably not get to speak my point of view longer than five seconds before a cop would show up though, so it feels somewhat pointless.

Despite what most of you are saying, i thought the whole spiel on Religion was completely true! I have never had Religion presented to me that way and for once, i could make some actual sense of things. I feel like Zeitgeist is the Visine some of us may need. By the end of the video i was wanting to live in this natural resource based economy but the fact is, i see it as something that is out of our hands, and will not be possible for quite some time. The fact of the matter is , the video's message is clear. We are doing things wrong, and their are better ways within our power.

Did anyone else find the view on Machines/Robots a bit relieving? Most people do tend to fear machines but in all reality, they are simple extensions of the human mind. Yeah i could go on about this all day...

(ps, i swear i kept hearing random pearl jam lyrics amongst this video :D )

I agree with the solution. A resource based economy where money is no longer a factor. That's actually crucial, having no money...profit is motivating policy, and all sorts of terrible things are happening as a result. If you take away the thing that so many people are spending their entire lives to attain, the focus will be shifted elsewhere...maybe towards helping out the community and those around you- education, innovations, new technologies, etc...

    So....

I ordered a dvd of Zeitgeist addendum for my brother over Christmas, I know its free but it was like 7 bucks and this is one way to make sure he watches it.

thing is it came with a very religious pamphlet about the end of days and a bible ordering form. what is that about? The first zeitgeist basically rips apart Christianity, and the second one is fairly anti religion....I don't know why they sent me a religious booklet with a bible order form. strange.
